Has /v/ played this? Whatcha think?

Came for the puzzles, stayed for the awesome unexpected story.
>>
What game

I'm actually worried I'm left stuck on an elevator for the piracy thing

I've curious about this game for a while.
Is it any good, /v/?
Compare it to Portal for me.
>>
>>318266320
it's better than portal.
>>
>>318266320
It sort of like Portal in that you solve puzzles in chambers using various tools and lasers and shit while disembodied voices speak to you.

However, it's a lot longer and (in my experience) more difficult than portal, and you can do puzzles in pretty much any order you want. Overall it isn't actually much like Portal.

THAT GAME IS PReeeEeeTTY GOoooOOOD
>>
>>318266320
Snappy movement, clear visual language, neat difficult secrets, freedom to choose between a bunch of areas and puzzles, intriguing story. It's damn good.
>>
Bought it because of hype.
It's #1 on my buyer's remorse list.

"Solve these puzzles so you can unlock some more puzzles. All in the same environment. And here in this hub you can see how many puzzle rooms we've got for you. Hope you like puzzles. Let's start with some puzzles. Oh, and somewhere inbetween we let you read shit to figure out the story."

Not my cup of tea. Like, at all.

Why would you buy a puzzle game and expect anything but puzzles?
>>
>>318266871
Did someone tell you it was a Serious Sam spin-off? The do you expect from a puzzle game?
>>
>>318266935
maybe he works for IGN
>>
>>318266935

Because I was promised a Portal like experience.
Turns out this game was nothing like Portal.
It didn't had the charme, the fun, the design, the setting or the characters.
>>
>>318265979
Is this an issue? Anyone? I havent gotten to an elevator yet, but should I even bother continuing?
>>
>>318265979
What
>>
>>318267112
Basically, it didn't have all the memes you were expecting from Portal. :^)
>>
>>318267112
This game is more of a Portal like experience than the wacky jokefest with babby tier puzzles that is Portal 2
>>
>>318266632
Fuck you casual I bet you won't even play the new PoE league
>>
>>318267112
>the fun
>the design
How to use a bunch of keystrokes to say nothing.
>the setting
Again, what did you expect from the screenshots?
>the characters
There is like three times as many characters, with a fair bit of development and interaction between them.

just google "The Talos Principle elevator piracy", it should come up

I strongly disagree.

>>318267515
Yep, my expectations were completely off.

Anyway, it's just my very own opinion.
I learned not to jump onto hypetrains, so it's okay.

its brilliant.
i went in expecting puzzles, got puzzles, story, characters, environments, philosophy and a world i was genuinely interested in exploring.
i honestly cant remember the last time a game gave me this thrill of exploring a strange new world. possibly myst.
so yeah. a solid puzzle game.
>>
It's great. Some of the puzzles were eh, but overall they're alright. It's also very relaxing, the story raises interesting questions while not being pretentious or preachy, and there were lots of hidden things to find.

Bought the DLC as well.
>>
How does the DLC stack up to the main game?
>>
>>318266320
It's Portal without the humor, puzzles areas are non-linear, you can leave a stubborn puzzle for another if you feel like it. Gameplay is classic pressure plate + box + light rays, with a few extras like a time-manipulation box. I enjoyed having to combine severals puzzles in a same area to access one star. Out-of-the-box thinking was nice.

Philosophy element is optional, but pretty well-designed and if you want to you can easily get immersed in it. It's classical "no one tell you what happened but you can find you bits and pieces of it with docs and audios logs". Definitely about 15 hours if you rush it, I think. More if you're a completionist.

Would recommand.

It's alright, but not as great as the main game. It(arguably) retcons a thing in the original's ending, and the plot themes are rather different, but it's fun in its own way. The puzzles are still fun, and it's an amusing internet forum simulator, if nothing else, and it includes Serious Sam: The Text Encounter.
>>
>>318266320
It's not a meme game, it's not two hours long and some puzzles are actually hard.
>>

So you hate the game because you're an idiot?
