On the topic of free games: Paranoia 1 and 2. Both are made by some Russian dude with the HL1 engine and are really impressive, specially the second one. Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut, which was made by the same team behind CoF and is usually seen as the better of the two. Spooky's House of Jumpscares, yeah, if you remember this Flavor of the Month game, I found it to be a nice mix of unsettling and light-hearted, but that's because I went in blind.

Alan Wake can be found for dirt cheap these days and is both an entertaining story and a decent enough horror game. Amazing sountrack too.
Also Penumbra, Amnesia, SOMA, etc. If you want something really bizarre and don't mind confusing gameplay, try out Garage: Bad Dream Adventure.
