The only big problem with CT is that people can't just say that it's a solid game and leave it at that. Simplicity and quality are completely different things, anon. One of the best things about CC is that there are at least three major plots happening simultaneously, and which one(s) you experience are entirely dependent on your choices.
The single plotline that you HAVE to experience, regardless of choice, can be summarized in one sentence.

You don't have to experience any of the stuff with Kid/Lucca, or even learn about Kid/Schala. The whole thing with Karsh/Dario/Radius and the Masamune is optional, but still a major plotline to the overall series.

Chrono Cross simply just isn't a real CT or Radical Dreamer sequel. It's a cross-game. A spin-off of its own. It is labeled as a successor by the company, not spiritual, or sequel.
That means they have no plans to un-retcon events in Chrono Cross to allow a true Chrono Trigger or Radical Dreamer sequel, and neither does writers.
