Bloodborne is set up in a way where there's usually a lot you can do at any given time. The amount of optional bosses is a lot higher than you expect when doing them, and the DLC fits into the base game well because of this. Like a lot of paths, if the DLC is too hard when you open it, then continue on with other parts of the game until you can handle it. There are like 7 new weapons available before the first boss of the DLC, so worst case it's probably great to just suicide run around and pick up as much shit as you can. I'd buy it with the game if I were buying it for the first time now.

Like a lot of people, he beat the game and got booted to NG+. There was no way he was going to restart a new character just for the DLC, especially considering he tends to just grind off-screen to get past most of the game which would be a huge timesink. Also with the duping he did the first time around patched out, he's not gonna spend the time to delete the like 8GB of patch data, dupe, redownload the patch, etc. Way more work than he's willing to put into something he can't stream.
So he picked up his fresh NG+ character, facetanked his way through the early bosses with Ludwig's Holy Blade to access the DLC, and then proceeded to get absolutely destroyed by Ludwig. I don't even remember him trying to get behind him. He mostly just walked up to his face, started swinging, and then complained when he can't dodge and eats shit. It straight up broke him. It was like Dark Souls 2 all over again, where he walked through the game throwing brokenly overpowered lightning bolts (that was a fun time) and then had a bitchfit when the mirror knight's shield bounced them. At least there he could break down and summon phantoms to trivialize the fight.

Do you observe the distance between you and him? That distance dictate which attack he's going to make. Most veterans position themselves on a distance where can they bait the attacks that they can punish easily. Ludwig has several telegraphed moves so observe you fucker, I've seen people punish the high tracking move with a well timed forward I-frame quickstep + R1 then disengages, also observe his sword hand on the second phase. He's is not the fastest boss on the DLC so stop making anymore excuses and GIT GUD.

The buzz saw probably still isn't as good as the Holy Blade, but it's at least a 2H option for people who want to leave skill low. Even with an S scaling, it doesn't really match Ludwig's two Bs, but I'd guess the reason for that is it probably has serrated damage resulting in a lot more damage against beast bosses.
I do like having a one-handed mace instead of a sword though. In fact I really really like the Amygdalan Arm's normal mode. It's a shame it's not actually a 2H weapon when transformed and the split damage kills its output potential.

I missed him at like half of his locations and he still ended up dead at the fishing hamlet dropping the bowblade and key. I think you basically just have to talk to him once anywhere for it to happen. You can even go to where he dies to get the key, then go back to the very first spot he's in and talk to him, then go all the way back to find him dead where he should be.

It's either Kos reincarnating itself into a higher, more humanoid form... or the culmination of the kin bonding with the world of man. Either way, it's a higher being than all seen before it.

Some piece it tore out from within Kos, most likely. Just looks like a piece of its body, possibly a rib (notice the curved, bone-like blade on the edge?) The cape is likely tissue from within Kos that got wrapped around the Orphan's neck, as well, hence why it's very fleshy.

Im in my second playthrough just about to fight rom at about sl50. Is the dlc really that hard? Because i beat the hame at sl70 last time and wiped the floor with every boss after rom. Amygdala, celestial emessary, micolash, mergos wet nurse, gherman, and paarl i all killed on the first try.

the problem is that the bosses arent challenging, like, at all. they just do random bullshit moves that you literally can only evade with iframe abuse. there's no correct positioning before or during an attack in anticipation, because they're all super fast, have huge aoe, and close distance very fast. what actually happens is that you throw your head against a wall until the RNG makes the boss use its weakest attacks long enough that you can zerg it down, or until you get 100 perfect iframe dodges in a row without fucking up too often.
that's not challenging, that's just a chore imo. and all of the boss fights in the dlc were like that except for one, which in return was trivially easy. doesn't help that all bosses were huge HP sponges either, so you ended up doing the same things for insanely long times. personally I couldn't play the DLC for more than 30 or so minutes at a time because I was so bored.
