2 ways I'll watch.
A game that has had pretty much no marketing or I haven't heard of I'll watch 2-5 minutes of gameplay to see what it's like. This is mostly true with JRPGs where the marketing focuses entirely too much on cutscenes or stuff that takes up a small portion of what you actually do.
I also will sometimes sit and watch longplays of old games I don't really feel like playing again. Could be that I don't remember how to get past tough/boring parts, could be it's just too difficult getting them to run on newer PCs.
Either way if I hear the person playing talk it's over. I mute or find a different video. I have no interest in the commentary whatsoever. Also with longplays it's maybe twice a year. I don't even use YT much because of how shitty the entire thing is, gaming or not.
