A couple years back I remember getting the ransomware hijack by visiting some porn site I had gone to several times before. I hadn't even downloaded anything, just happened soon as I visited the page.
It tried to say my computer had been locked down by the government because of "CP, Acts of Terrorism, and other illegal content" and to pay with some card you get at your local 7-eleven or whatever.
However, I was using dual monitors and it only locked the first one, so I could just alt-tab out of it. Ran in flash, so I knew it was 7 types of bullshit. Haven't had any issues since, but I'm still paranoid it was a rootkit that's still hanging around. Definitely got no-script after that, though.
