Simple mechanics with an incredibly high skill ceiling. You start out just ramming the ball right in front of the net. But then you're able to chase the ball up a wall, hit it, then fly to chase after it and score a goal. Really satisfying when you make flying goals and shit.
Only thing I hate is that I get stuck with retards in ranked that don't know how to rotate positions or play goalie.And I have no friends to party up with

I've played all the major "GOTY" contenders and I've had the most FUN with Rocket League so that's my personal GOTY.
Rocket League with your bros is what gaming is all about. It brings me back to the core value of games, which is pure unadulterated FUN. And the devs have done/are doing everything right. I felt bad for getting it free on PS+ (inb4 "free") it's that good.

Flatter cars strike best and give you the most control over the angle of your shots and lobs/pop-ups.
The more rounded like gizmo/octane will strike more naturally with an arc, naturally at an angle. Straight boost-bumps on the ground will shoot the ball higher than flats/blocky cars and thus can be harder to intercept mid-stream.
Blocky cars like roadhog/the van give you most surface area, making blocking shots easier and giving you the upper hand in any 1v1 simultaneous collision where neither of you have any boost (kickoff). The makes an "agressive defense" playstyle easier, where you always try to intercept and instantly rebound opponents shots. This is both humiliating and also gives you a better opportunity to follow up your rebound.my autism dawns on me. Fucking kill me, ive played this game too much. But Goddamn its fun

Got like 78 hours on this game already, I fucking love it.
The pure amount of fun that can happen at one time is pretty remarkable. But I wanted to mention one thing, the cars do have differences. They have different turning radii and hitboxes, which impacts gameplay, but not in a significant way. Acceleration/weight and all that are the same.

Yes, though not at first. You have to get out of the bronze III and bronze II ranks before you stop getting matched with people who just want to chase the ball constantly and get in your way hurting the team. You just have to suck it up and let them at it while you play goalkeeper or take long shots from the halfway line.
After that in the middle ranks it gets really fun, you play with people who understand positioning and are happy to float between attack and defence.
Rocket League is a fucking salt mine & I love it.
MFW when the other team forfeits less than a minute into the game & its the third time today.

You can tell early on if a teammate just isn't on your wavelength at all. When you start seeing things like a dribble down the wing and they're behind you chasing the same ball instead of waiting centre it's a major red flag. I don't mind going behind to isolated mistakes but if a player fails to understand the basics of teamwork there isn't much hope in coming from behind.
I don't really see those players anymore at my rank but when climbing it's a must to know when you've got a rambo chaser partner and to save yourself time by just quitting.

The game is fun with good team mates who try to juggle the ball around and set up but fuck dude half the time it's just me hitting the ball away from the goal because my other teammates are flipped over mid field because they went max speed and missed.

Slight differences due to the fact it's on the unreal engine. The physical shape of your car's profile is your hit box (minus a couple details) and the length of the car determines the wheel base length which affects the turning radius, this why they do some scaling adjustments every so often. They try to keep them as similar as possible though.
