Tired gamer thread.

What do you guys do when vidya isn't appealing at the moment? I have no other hobbies I can sink as much time into as vidya.
>>
LOL

dan kim still makes comics?
>>
Just accidentally deleted my Bloodborne save which I poured 200+ hours into.

On the plus side, I dusted off my guitar case for once.
>>
I either watch tv, read either a book or comics or just waste time on the internet looking up hobbies I will probably never do because I don't think I'd be good at them and don't want to risk wasting money on something I might not be good at. which incidentally is the reason why I don't order different things at restaurants.
>>
>>318125927
Usually that's when I make myself do things I put off.
Deep clean the house, cook at home more get into a book to read, etc.
Usually it pays off good but then something comes out that just gets me suck in and it will be another year till Im freed

That's what I normally do. Games have always been like a reward for me, and I usually only play when I'm done with everything else. Maybe just stop cold turkey for a bit and find another hobby.
>>

No, really. Get off /v/ and your cynicism will fully vent out
>>

This is me now. The hobby has burned me out. Things are just terrible now. I can't get excited for any releases. I feel old and tired. I hold no hope for the future.

Just end it please.
>>
>>318125927
Watch anime and fap.
Mostly both at the same time.
After 12 episodes of this, I usually get in the mood playing vidya again.

Whenever I ever see any of his comics, no matter which one, I always remember that one panel from Nana's life comic where Henrietta is teaching Nana that guys like it when you stroke their cock as you suck them off.

Dan is fucking awesome simply because of how no-hold-barred his comics were and his taste in lolis is great too, as Sakura, Nana, and Henrietta are some of my all time fav lolis.

Also, if anyone happens to have the link to that exact comic panel or upload it, it would make my day.

Hopefully my words inspire him not to do so.

Really, he personally made my life a little bit better and brighter because of his comics. Literally one of the few western webcomics I could tolerate.

He even used a lot of Japanese phrases and words that not even most "hardcore" animes fans knew back then. So the weeb factor really worked for me.
>>
Enjoy games still. You get tired of games if you constantly point out flaws, that's why you don't listen to /v/ cause it's usually a bunch of virgins complaining about stupid shit cause they are mad at the rest of the world and need something to vent on. Seriously play call of duty or whatever game with friends and just have fun with bros. Yeah it's a copy and past blah blah, we are all aware, but it's still pretty fun playing with a group.
>>
>>318125927
Felt this way since Phantom Pain.

In the meantime, I've been enjoying games again, so that's good.

It's like a pendulum that way. It's nice to have a few hobbies to cycle through. I read, vidya, 40k, D&D and write. If I don't want to do one I generally do another.

If you're not used to working out regularly, the biggest mistake you can make when starting weightlifting is going too hard your first day and getting really sore, which will make you want to give up quick.

Start with easy lifts (like bicep and tricep lifts) with little girl amounts of weight (like less than 20 pounds) to let your body acclimate to being worked. When you're literally not feeling any exertion from a given weight at the end of your sets, think about adding more exercises for that muscle or increasing the weight by 5 lbs.

I'm not worried about soreness really, I just have alot of motivation inertia I guess. It's really hard for me to motivate myself to do anything except sit here on my pc.

I really was going to go this week since I was on vacation from school but I ended up catching a flu or something so i've spent my whole vacation sick.

I'm actually kind of having the opposite problem. I enjoy games too much and there just isn't enough time in the world for me to enjoy all the games I want, much less do anything else.

I have so many appealing options available at once that its too overwhelming and I don't feel like doing any of it.

I would like to learn to draw and game dev but it's super disheartening. I am kind of a slow learner and so I feel like it'd take a lifetime to just master ONE of those hobbies and I want to do both... Plus I still want to have time for vidya, and I usually just play vidya instead of learning art of coding because it's instant gratification.

In saying that my life has never been better, I get out a lot more and am generally more happy a lot of the time.

For what it's worth, one of the smartest person I've ever known posted this post-30:
>>
>>318134684
I've been like that for years, but doesn't that offer a different kind of enjoyment too? I mean the sense of mysteriousness and discovery is long gone, but now I can appreciate things with a creator's eye. I admire the elegance of design and construction.
>>
>>318134826
Kind of, but the most games I play I don't even think are designed or constructed elegantly. Sirlin always does well though.
>>
>>318134809
I feel like, it must be this life. It must be this world we're a part of. I love games. They're my primary hobby, they're what I spend the most time on, spend the most time talking about, what I've bonded with people through and met new friends through.

But there's this awful nagging feeling like life isn't worth living without them. That the real world is shit, that I spend as much time gaming as I do because it's better than the monotony and disappointment of real life.
>>
>>318135093
Real life isn't inherently monotonous and disappointing. It's just that your inherit constitution and reactions make it seem that way when video games are a much easier domain to explore and exploit.
>>
>>318135207
I guess I wouldn't feel that way if I more often experienced the good things in life.
Escapism feels so necessary. I feel like I'd upset all the time if I didn't use escapism regularly.

If I play games nowadays they are usually games that I've played before that I really like. Started playing Dust: An Elysian Tail and I really liked it, but its already getting boring.

Playing games makes me tired.
>>
>>318135363
I think your post is in agreement with mine. I wish that I knew how to nudge you along a productive path and make it seem easy and fun.
>>
>>318134809
I kind of get where he's coming from but I have to disagree. I guess I should say I'm not quite 30 yet but I'm getting there.

I have been obsessed with video games my whole childhood. But if you think about it, it's obvious because that was the most interesting thing I had going on. I went to school, came home, had no internet or friends nearby... So I played games. When I new game I wanted was out I felt like I would die if I didn't have it right away. But I realize now that it wasn't because my love for games was stronger back then, it was because all my other options at the time were less engaging.

Today i can literally have a constant stream of human interaction with faux-friends with 4chan, Skype, Twitter, etc. All of which is available to be anywhere any time from my phone. As a human this is what my brain is designed to gravitate to. Of course I drift to that if I don't make a conscious effort to play games.

Not to mention adult responsibilities which take up a lot of time as well.

I didn't fall out of love with games. Rather, the other things I could do instead of games caught up. As long as a make a conscious effort to be immersed in a game and give it my full attention, I can enjoy them whenever.
>>
>>318135568
There may be a point where even if you decide to give a game your full attention your brain decides that it is worthless and you shouldn't spend any effort on it.

The notion seemed retarded to me when I was <27 or so but now it's happening to me too.
>>
Read up on global politics and history books.
>>
>>318135568
Yeah, this. You work 45 hours a week, meet up with friends when you can, church responsibilities, cuts into your time. But I feel I have just enough free time. I rarely played games for longer than a couple hours a setting anyway.

I highly advise all you lonely people to join a church, you will finally have interaction with people, badass history, awesome artwork, and you can help those in need.

The world is a much bigger place than you give it credit for, with a lit more people and a lot more stuff going on. If you don't believe me, just go to something you've never done before and try it out: a local DnD group, a country music bar, a gathering of people who like watching football games, a gym, whatever. The only part of your life falling apart is the one that you're focused on; if you shift your focus to something else, it's magically not falling apart anymore.

Ragnarok Online Battle Fuck: Episode of Yuno.

The first game was exceptional; like playing a sexy single-player version of RO. Despite using a lot of preinstalled RPG Maker assets they managed to capture the charm of RO.

Second game wasn't that great. It focused too much on the story and kind of dragged you along instead of letting you go at it yourself.
Hopefully this one will go back to the practically open world design they got down perfectly in the first.

Release date they're shooting for is somewhere in January.

I'm having breakfast

I managed to cut down chan time from ten hours a day to one hour (and that's lunch, before bed etc, when I cant do anything else)

They're fucking free and yet they're not worth my time.
Time I'm going to use shitposting on a shitty board, on a chan that is shitty enough to have a /pol/ board on it.

Wake me up outside

Call of duty had a very solid foundation as a shooter before it became the yearly rehash that it is. Also, Black Ops 3 is Treyarch and they put far more effort into their games than the franchise deserves.
>>
>>318140872
It's not as strange as you might think. I can't muster any willpower to play RPGs anymore after being of the genre for like two decades all the while I found entertainment in simple puzzle games which I never even bothered with previously. You need some variety once in a while.

They're not all good. They do generally have a solid foundation and lots of content though.
It's best to look at them every three games or so.

Why did I do that

I loved the first and backed the second one. But goddamn the progress is slow. Every update they send is about some little thing they've been working on for 2 months.

autopilot as it fucking gets. I dont enjoy video games and my other hobbies dont exist on a day to day basis.

Watch a cute short movie or something similar.
If ya have time, watch Garden of Words
Or sleep or go walk while listening to music.
>>
>>318147453
oh also I accidentally lost my POPstarter savefile that had 40 hours of FFIX on it

and I actually enjoyed that fucking game for once
>>

garden of words is depressing as fuck, and not in a good way either
great art style though

better to watch Welcome to the NHK or anything else over it. It helped me when I was neet.

Nothing.
MGSV was it. THE game. And kojimbo fucked it up
I still want to believe in chapter 3 and the nuke disarmament ending though

You find shit that is new and appealing to you.

Quut depending on AAA hype machines to decide for you what you should play.

You obviously dont like current or modern trends in gamrs so look for new or old games that scratch that irhc for that specific type od game taste thst you have developed over the years of vidyaing.
>>
>>318148139

>age is the reason I'm boring

anon please

I've known 70 year olds that were interesting as fuck and 17 years olds as dull as shit.

It is who you are as a person.

So basically (You) are just boring as fuck :^)

V was amazing. And daily reminded that your supposed to play one "episode" at a time since release, which will perfectly coincide with this nuclear disarming event.
>>
>>318148803
>V was amazing
>ignoring the masses of cut content
>ignoring the lackluster story and repeat missions
>ignoring the plot points left hanging or missed oppertunities
>ignoring the lack of a final boss (sally doesn't count, as that was chapter 1's final boss)
>not to mention the terribly made online, outsourced to a new LA studio which failed to capture MGO's original gameplay
>and it's imbalanced as fuck even in itself
>ignoring the repetitiveness of the mission structure a la GTA (go here, kill person, leave)
>ignoring the open world with literally nothing in it and only 2 areas, 3 if you count mother base/FOB
No. Fuck you. V failed in every way imaginable.
>>
>>318148570
This but with VNs or RPGs or anything that had a story you got really invested in and characters you fell in love with.
The emptiness when it hits you that you will never see those characters again and your life will never be that eventful.

>play vidya
>remember that I'm wasting life
>no longer feel like playing vidya
>waste life shitposting on /v/ instead
I think I know why /v/ is full of shitposts. It's because we want to enjoy vidya but can't, so we post semi-vidya-related shit instead.

This is also why Undertale is so popular. Because it manages to be so low on vidya it's more like a story and thus doesn't trigger the usual vidya rejection syndrome and tired gamer reflex.

I've been playing vidya so long that I don't know how to spend time not playing vidya. Guess I never thought the market would become so shitty.
I usually spend my time writing terrible fanfictions now and watching Kindaichi episodes. Fucking how is Detective Conan going on for 801 episodes without burnout?
