You are a cowboy see. It has similar settlement mechanics like fallout 4 but not shit.
Aliens invade your peaceful western lifestyle of robbing banks and killing shit. They attack your various settlements and steal livestock and people.
After surviving a set amount of time you and your posse you have acquired through various resource gains will decide to cross the frontier into the alien settlement they have built in the grand canyon. There you and your posse will fight the aliens alongside some of their gains like mutated cows/horses/people.
And uhhhh, there is a little easter egg in a cave underwater that has a mutated clint eastwood that's part fish

Alpha Protocol is far from my favorite game.
I was watching TGTBaTU and I had a flash of inspiration with a video game scene that looks something like a mix between Alpha Protocol and New Vegas where a climax is three men in a stand off and various choices pop up with a timer so you only have so much time to choose:

Where the outcome could be decided by a mixture of RPG skill stuff and choices the player made before hand; like if one or the other trusted the player, if he had sabotaged their guns in any way, if he had made allegiances with one to take out the other, if he had pissed one off, etc.

Got a better idea. You play as a no-name gunslinger set in the Dark Tower Inworld, right after the fall of Gilead. It would and would not be westernized Fallout at the same time, because Fallout was just post apocalyptic, but The Dark Tower is post post apocalyptic aka they had the chance to rebuild and reuse some of the forgotten technology that bordered on magic, but then shit went down again and the only civilized nation was essentially wiped out. Oh and don't forget the hazards that come with the fabric of reality slowly coming apart.

What if it was a western game and you had some wacky friend that was a genius and he'd build you all kinds of shitty contraptions like barely functioning planes and a suit of armor that's just a bunch of shit nailed together.

Wouldn't mind a game like Red Dead Redemption with actual choices and a much more responsive shooting system. RDR's ragdoll physics/animations were pretty damn great, anything that just took that and expanded upon the gore and blood would be great.

Who the main target is, so to speak, changes depending on which backstory you pick, but half the plot is finding out who it is.

>The old man with arm working the barn is your good-for-nothing father who ran off. He didn't think it'd actually bring a world of hurt down on your family and his injuries are a result of him confronting the debtors after he found out what they did to the family. He was too ashamed to come back.
>One of the girls that works the bar killed your sister in what she knows was a petty squabble over a man. She spots you as soon as you walk into town and spends a lot of the game trying to get you out of town or killed so you don't find out it was her.
>A woman needed a distraction to get her brother out of jail, so she paid some mercenaries, you were one of them, to rob a bank across town. She alerted the authorities and busted her brother out while they were busy taking care of the robbery. You did time or cut a deal to come out west for the pardon.
