I actually bought a Mother 3 repro cart a few months back just to play the game in English with rhythm battles actually working.
Other than Flint's Defense Up locking the game, it worked fine.
Got this for Christmas when I was a young one.
Pretty much filled the Pokedex before the shitty save battery ran out. About a year ago I replaced it with a higher voltage one so it should keep my save for about 10 years.

As far as I'm aware snes had stronger copy protection, for nes any asshole could make a cart for it but all of the snes bootlegs I've seen needed you to piggyback a real snes game on top in order for it to bypass the copy protection
