>JRPG has a location where an advanced society exists
>It gets destroyed before or during the main story
Why does this keep happening?
They want science fiction elements but they're so obsessed with making a standard, generic JRPG that they NEED the game to take place in a generic fantasy setting.
if the advanced society kept existing doing well and aren't the villains, they'd be the ones to resolve everything and the teenagers wouldn't be needed to save the world anymore

How the fuck is that even a city?
>wanting a society that practices cannibalism to continue existing
There are fucking animals and shit to eat, come on now.

>solaris
>resolve everything
nope.
>>318088137
it's bigger than it looks, characters wouldn't be even be big enough to be a visible dot at this scale
Short lived as fuck though
Because if the advanced society couldn't beat the monumental threat you're up against, how are YOU supposed to be able to?
It's literally just jobbing.

It's a convenient plot device that is quite interesting. There are games that don't use it though. E.g. the Esthar society in FF8 wasn't destroyed.
BoF3 had an advanced society on the other continent that already perished long before the protag sets foot on it. Was a nice change in setting and interesting lore piece.

>Advanced Society
>10.000 years in the past

What if they came from the future?
>>318087037
Legend of Dragoon, the common Winglies had it hard thanks to their shit for brains emperor and superiority complex.
>Why does this keep happening?
Because of nukes.
>>318090896
They couldn't because Lavos was supposed to destroy the future,.
Fuck, now I want to replay fucking ChronoTrigger.
>JRPG final boss
>phase 1 is the villain as they appear throughout the game
>phase 2 is them in some disgusting monster
>phase 3 is them as a god
>>318088438
is that a giant waterfall behind those floating pieces of land? or are those clouds and they made a shit job makign it appear like the clouds were below the islands, because of how it curves like a waterfall?

Can't get better than FFVI

Final boss of legend of dragoon was pretty good too for that. It's weird flying car form was the best.
