It's kind of absurd how much the game would be improved by just having a larger over world. I don't know if the map was an issue of asset creation taking time or MT Frameworks literally could not handle map creation beyond certain dimensions, cos there is actually tons of stuff in the game world, it's just all packed together on a small plot of land. DD has the kind of mechanics where you can justify long ass journeys in, which is ironic when you consider huge open worlds simply don't.
Also i'm actually kind of fine with the fact that DD doesn't have you travelling to the moon, or meeting elves, cos that's like the two most retarded aspects of both JRPGs and WRPGs in one sentence.

Hardly. The ambition this game got is what made it special, it's why it has a cult following and hence a PC port. Anyone can fill a big world full of vacant shit or put together some stats and a shit combat system.
But only ambition would allow you to spend precious dev time creating climbing systems, grabbing systems, making consistent combat that can afford to be fluid and satisfying in both dungeons and a resource-intensive open world. Ambition is what allows you to spend time creating an advanced AI learning system the majority of players won't even realise is there. What allows decent character customisation, a vast amount of crafting and weapon upgrade combinations, and so on.
Their only ambitious thing was that they wanted their craft of love to be on consoles. It's actually disgusting just how much consoles managed to shackle and hold back a video game that wanted to actively advance just how you can make an open world RPG. DD on consoles was like seeing a fluid gymnast in a diving suit.
But despite this it had ambition and that's why i'm hyped as fuck because I can forgive this game for alot of its bullshit, somebody in the dev team had alot of love for the game it shows very clearly when you get that magical moment you simply cannot get in any other game.

I wish there was better/more end-end game content for the game.
There's quite a lot to grind for with all the Lv.3 BBB isle gear but you don't really need it. Leveling up to 200 once you'd done all of BBB was pretty quick too, though I honestly wouldn't mind if once you reached 200 there was additional endgame content where Gear is what you're looking for. Leveling past 100 or so didn't do that much anyway.

I have no problem with the everfall aside from the way to get from one level to the other. Some of them a hard to get, where you can't really see them but need to jump from two or three levels above.
The level design is uninteresting, but there are some great fights. Everyone remembers the fight against the giant eye, the hydra or the room with the liches which summon hellhounds.
What I really like is the names of the rooms, what they mean and why they get easier the further down you go.

While it was fun dropping down a giant hole and falling forever, and then smacking head first onto the platform you want to only receive 10 damage, it got a bit annoying trying to plan what floor you wanted. It got even more annoying trying to find the specific chest you want for the specific armour/weapon you want, and then killing yourself multiple times in order to get said piece.
Some of the floors are just annoying to go in, like the one with all the succubi and gargoyles, or the metal golem floor. I think the worst boss fight floor was the one with a Chimera, a Gore Chimera and a Lich that summoned Hellhounds.
The Arch Hydra was the best fight though. I still haven't got all those fancy armour pieces that I want.

Why did the Daimon's Second form suck so much? It's literally a boring ass bullet sponge who just floats in the air. It's a real fucking shame too when the Daimon's First Form is probably the best boss fight in the game. The way he was so mobile and how he flung himself across the room, breaking the pillars, was really unique and gave him a sense of weight and power. And then we get this thing.
Also this isn't even mentioning the design. I literally laughed when the face popped through the Daimon's chest. What were they thinking?

Both of his heads are weakspots. He just has really fucking high defense and magick defense.
You have to use Periapts and have augments on that increase your primary damage stat for the battle to go smoothly.

It's that good balance of power and fluidity, with a few utilities to remain agile. That one huge fuck off option that allows you to go all in on a coup-de-grace.
I think the only other game that really comes close is like Siegfried in Soul Calibur, but it's a completely different game type. Hits hard, but is very fluid, moving from one action to the next.
That said, I do enjoy heavy weapons in Souls series and a few other games, but for somewhat different reasons.

I actually leveled quite a bit as a Warrior myself. Though I still did quite a lot of levels as the Ranger as Stamina is important for tenfolding over and over. In terms of augments my character is pretty much minmaxed in terms of physical damage/defense, with both strength augments, both defense augments, and one slot left over for whatever I feel like.

Hard mode makes your skills consume significantly more stamina than on normal, you also do way less damage, as well as take way more. It's also a lot harder to stagger enemies.
That's all one thing, but only the player character is affected by this, so pawns still do (and take) normal damage, and stagger the enemy normally, but because you gain double exp on hard, they level up a lot faster, making them overleveled very quickly.
Combine that with the ridiculous amount of gold you get, the whole thing is just an unbalanced mess, where most likely your pawns will be doing all the work while you run your rich ass around trying not to get one shotted.

I only use my main pawn right now. Someday I'll do a nopawn run. Having no mage on bard mode is already enough for me. Always running out of heals and fucking ghosts take a lot of strategy to beat since my physical attacks do nothing.

I absolutely love the fact that the lantern casts shadows. Last gen game and not even new games do this. Fallout 4 and its shitty ass pipboy light and power armor flashlight don't cast a single shadow. Although there is a mod it, it's glitchy.

Its also the only game in awhile with realtime shadows that are accurate to whats infront of the lightsource. Also dat feel when exploring a dark ass cave and seeing the sunlight pouring in from the exit through the gaps in the door. They really put a lot of effort into the lighting in this game.
Protip for new player PC friends:
Dont use the come command. Neveret your Pawn be Guardian inclination. Dont hire Guardian Pawns. Never trust a Guardian.

Pawns are just great. They need a lot of training and not everything works how it should, but there's something really satisfying about seeing your own pawn grow and getting stronger.

Protip: You can change your pawns personality/quips at knowledge chairs located throughout the capital city. It's a fun way of making your pawn a little more unique.

I go through every pawn with the skills I'm looking for dismissing every Guardian or other shit inclinations until I find any pawn that has even ok inclination and then hire them regardless of looks or if they even have the skills I wanted cause after 30 minutes of guardians I want to kill myself.

Do what I do: If I somehow get a shit love interest, I sacrifice them to Grigori and pretend that I rule the duchy with my qt3.14 pawn as duchess. We bring new roads and open sea routes until the next Arisen comes along and kills the dragon. Or you can pretend that "How did I preform? I tried my hardest" refers to sex. That's significantly less autistic

I just hire them if they have good skills, good equipment and the right inclinations. Really pisses me off when there's a pawn who looks fucking fantastic, has great gear and skill and then I take a look at the inclinations and they're a guardian

They move into your home in Cassardis, but you cant actually sleep in your own home, only the inn so its more like you give your house to them. The love interest system is terrible and they shouldnt have wasted devtime on it.
