It's a really creative way to do storytelling through gameplay. As opposed to most story games these days where the gameplay is just walking around and is often pointless, Her Story makes it both a puzzle to get information and then to piece together.
I liked it a lot, but it's also hard to really rate because it's only a couple hours long and there's not much to compare it to because it's fairly unique and people won't dare to copy it. It's essentially a fresh take and a great entry in a genre that's been dead for like 20 years (FMV games). It's well worth the 3-4 dollars it is on Steam now.
I think people also largely ignored it because just seeing the title and synopsis makes you assume it's like all those shitty pandering 'life of a girl' titles that keep cropping up, when it's not that at all.

They're simple, cheap and easy to get into. and at the price point of $500 per console, and each console having about 4-5 games max a year, Indies just seem like a much better way to go, plus you get original exciting ideas as opposed to the same unreal engine shooter with a fresh coat of paint IN HD

Really shouldn't count, since the people who made the damn spiritual predecessor had more content in that game than what you got in Rocket League including different map designs.
Plus it doesn't actually play that well at all, aerials shit on casuals and it's too much of a chaotic low effort mess to be competitive. If it wanted to impress anyone it has to find a way to make your car easier to handle in mid-air and not rely on boost to tackle on the ground, then it becomes faster paced.
Plus no ball cam/ball cam is such a cop-out design wise, there's no fucking UI so make a 3D minimap/radar feature to keep track of teammates and the ball.
