I hope it doesn't have any slowdowns like Nexus.
Extremely excited. When does the movie come out?
>Ratchet and Clank: the casualized remake
Nope
>>318043494
Literally what the fuck? Ratchet is and always has been a casual children's game, and it's fun as fuck
>>318042283
>Are you excited for the PS4's first good exclusive anon?
Nah I'm not a fan of Souls games.
>>318042283
Was that supposed to impress me? Looks worse than Tools of Destruction.
>>318043356
>Naughtey Dog makes pretend movies
>Insomniac is getting a real movie
:3
I just hope there will be difficulty levels or something.
The last several games were too easy.
Also - where's the platforming?
>Implying InFamous, Bloodborne, Disgaea 5, and Until Dawn weren't good
That said I'm hype as fuck for the new R&C, its literally my favourite vidya series.
>>318042283
Wait, there's a new R&C? Holy shit this is news to me. Time to get a PS Quadruple
>>318042283
I want to see what the Gemlik Moon Base stage looks like. That one was badass.
>>318044150
Future games had difficulty settings.
>Also - where's the platforming?
Platforming has always been a minor thing in R&C desu.
>>318044150
Difficulty levels are confirmed, they've said that slowdown on grind rails and button prompts only happen on easy
>>318047696
Great! Starting on Hard!
>>318047696
>believing developers
welcome to vidya
>>318048180
Do you honestly think they'd lie about difficulty levels being a feature?
>>318044150
>Also - where's the platforming?
The platforming in R&C games was always shit tier.
>>318048392
explain
>>318048584
The level design was always linear as shit save for wide open spaces like the desert or snowfield in R&C2, and they mostly just involve "hop up these three steps and over this small crevice" and nothing more. R&C was always emphasized explosive action over platforming.
>>318049565
But there was still specific platforming sections like the rising water bit in RC1, the platforming arena missions in UYA and DL, the moons in CIT, and basically all of the first half of QFB. Of course there's the couple steps to transition to the next fight in combat sections, but that's not what people are referring to when they talk about platforming in ratchet
Platforming isn't usually nonlinear, I'm not sure what your point there is. RC's always had a mix of both platforming/'puzzle' and combat, the balance between both varies from game to game
>>318050123
Compared to stuff like the Jak games it is unimpressive.
>>318052228
Frankly, even Jak had pretty poor platforming.
Neither of the series are actually that much of platformers compared to their predecessors, Spyro and Crash.
>>318052948
Spyro wasn't very impressive either. It focused more on atmosphere and charm, which in my honest opinion was starting to run dry by the third game. Also enemies constantly came in two variants: minions as small as Spyro himself which carried flameproof armor, meaning they could only be rammed, and big hulking brutes which were too big to ram so you had to flame them.
>>318042283
>no ps4
>looks impressive for 30fps
>a classic actually surviving in this day and age
>old music is kill
>reusing future weapons as main arsenal
>writing
I'm conflicted
I loved this series because of weapons. Some serious, some OP, others just creatively wacky. I want good, thought out versions of all I said.
And harder missions.
>>318042283
It's enough to make me settle on getting a PS4, so yes. Yes I am.
Favourite game series of all time & I can't wait, even if it's a game that's in no need of a reboot & the OST is already confirmed to be significantly worse than the original's
>>318054259
They were forced by sony to put preorder conntent in so you will only be able to get the bouncer if you preorder
Insomniac have a history of never offering preorder content as later DLC
>>318054820
With any luck it may be like the Insomniac Museum in ACiT and the morphing weapons in All 4 One: Pre-Order unlocks them sooner but you can still unlock it by yourself.
>>318049565
But that is platforming. Platformers are about jumping around on PLATFORMS, not exploring.
>>318042283
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0hjRENVoYI
0:24 is my answer
>>318054259
The new music isn't too bad. And they probably have remade a few of the classic themes. The story looks to be pretty interesting, since they have Nefarious while he was still a squishie.
>>318042283
>those videos
Too much dialogue. They ruined the immersion.
>>318056624
What immersion? The originals were the same, just simpler.
>>318042283
The demo was pretty fun. They actually made the Snagglebeast fun instead of "wait for the slow fucker to slowly walk onto the trap"
>>318056174
It's not hard to do both.
>>318056676
When you have some NPC talking to you about WHAT IS HAPPENING AS YOU PLAY, that ruins everything.
>oh, I see you have that blaster weapon
>try using it on those enemies OVER THERE
>I see you are pretty handy with that iron Lombax
>escort me to that boat, that you can see to your right, IF YOU MOVE THE CAMERA WITH THE RIGHT ANALOG STICK
>I see the Blarg are here too, attack them WITH THAT BLASTER WEAPON BY HOLDING THE CIRCLE BUTTON
>you almost made it, now there is that dude you wanted to see. I bet he has the item you need
>well, we're all done here! Feel free to look for GOLD BOLTS, I hear there is one ON TOP PF THE WATERFALL
>don't know how to hack into a PS2 disk to extract the music
>>318058580
It'd probably be stored in some obtuse format only the PS2 can read.
Should I go poking around in case it isn't? I have both PS2 and PS3 game files.
>>318058680
The thing is, it is ALREADY KNOWN what format PS2 audio is in, and SOME PEOPLE KNOW how to convert that to WAV or whatnot.
People figured out how to do that.
They just don't want to share their knowledge.
>>318056412
>music isn't too bad
It's not bad, just not remember able . I miss the fast pace techno of the first 3 and deadlocked, and it honestly wouldn't be the same with this one.
>>318059147
I just looked in my PS3 game directory and I see a bunch of .xvag files. Some googling suggests I can convert them. Do you want me to get on that for you?
>a classic playstation franchise that has remained consistently good since its inception
That's something you don't see every day.
>>318059510
There have been bumps in the road.
>>318059380
No.
I want someone to tell me how to do that myself, on any platform (operating system). Don't want to be confined to Windows.
>>318059542
Still not complete and utter garbage though, at least
>>318060053
Well, want me to send you the xvags to save you the trouble of pirating them?
>>318042283
Its awful, its actually making me think about getting a PS4. Bloodborne isn't anything special but ratchet and clank is my fuckin jam. Its not some try hard grimdark game for teens.
>>318059510
Definately, thats why their smash game sucked dick. The average joe didn't know most of those characters because sony usually don't take care of their franchises after the third game and it all goes to shit.
>>318060216
xvags play natively in VLC at least, by the way
I fucking love the ratchet and clank games. Into the nexus wasnt AS good as the previous entries, but it did prove that they can still make them good.
In other words moderate hype
>>318060085
Agree. Even the likes of All 4 One, Full Frontal Assault and Nexus (On people's opinion; I actually found that one pretty solid if just short.) had something good and fun in them and none are broken or filled with graphical or design flaws to the level of other mascot franchises.
>>318060216
If you want to.
I have the disks myself, so I could technically extract those files when I have a BD player.
>>318061223
PS3 discs are bound to be encrypted, I don't know if it's that easy.
>>318061428
I will find a way. I know people have ripped PS3 music before.
>>318061497
I'm only looking at the game contents because my PS3 has CFW. I don't even have another blu ray drive.
>same fucking future series weapons
>butchered story with dreamworks faced characters
>characters that literally don't shut up during gameplay
can't wait to play! (sarcastic tone)
>>318044150
starting with crack in time they've had difficulty levels.
The 2nd hardest and unlockable hardest difficulties have been a decent challange
>>318061797
>same fucking future series weapons
this holy fuck, It's the one thing I'm actually upset about
If they're going to continue rehashing weapons they could at least re-hash the first game's weapons
Every weapon in the first game was great and unique but we're getting fucking zurkon for the 8th time
>>318061797
I hate the rehashing too. They're even taking the flamethrower from A4O and calling it the Pyrociter.
>>318062474
are you fucking serious?
fuck that. insomniac isn't getting a sale from me this time.
>No more asshole Ratchet
Pass. The future games onwards forgot what made him funny
>>318061797
>(sarcastic tone)
Anon come on I'm agreeing with you as well on weapons.
>>318061934
Least two and 3 had previous games weapons be bonus ones. Zurkon could be fine if he was like slim cognito/gagetron ruins bot where it's just a secrets vendor and uses previous saves for discounts and arent the main bulk of weapons.
Well 3 reused some of the first game, but justifiable since it was a return, and they were changed with the new system.
>>318062474
you mean the flamethrower they reused from tod
this fucking game is such a letdown.
i was hoping for the original game redone with hd assets and visuals, not a dreamworks movie game.
>>318062890
the flamethrower from tod looked much more realistic than this shit. i haven't play a4o so i'm inclined to believe him.
>>318042283
Literally the only reason I've considered getting a PS4 is the hopes of HD remakes of the original 3 R&C.
Then I can pick up the other shit for fun.
>>318062794
They did reuse some weapons in 2 and 3, but they didn't have half the fucking arsenal be reused from previous games
>>318042283
No, it's the only CONSOLE exclusive that I care about. But I'm not going to get a console for that. I can still emulate R&C1 and R&C3 albeit shittilly because for some reason R&C emulates like shit.
>>318063051
They're doing it with atleast two other weapons too. There was an image showing them but I can't find it.
>>318042932
Wasn't Into the Nexus on PS3?
>>318063183
It's because the game uses custom mipmaps
GSDX shits itself on custom mipmaps.
>>318063183
>some reason
They had to hack the PS2 just to get the games to work. They even watched how the disc reading worked, and put different parts of the game on different parts of the disc so it'd read faster.
>>318043494
>I have never played or even seen Ratchet and Clank before, so I'll just call it casualized because it's a remake
I am so stoked for the new Ratchet and Clank. I remember getting Tools of Destruction for christmas along with the PS3. Played that game, with the simpsons game, for months because I couldnt be arsed buying other games. This and Digimon is the reason why I bought a PS4
>>318063281
yes, they used the shitty a4o engine that looks awful and runs like shit
>>318063387
Not even that guy. But have you even played 1, any recent game or watched gameplay? All they've been doing is making it easier.
>>318063387
but he's right. this remake looks super fucking casualized.
>>318062961
Well anon they announced from the start it's a movie tie in. Looking at the movie it ain't hard to see where it was going.
I just hope it doesn't play shit

I love you too. You can stop any time now. Your shitposting won't make the game any less fun or more casual.

>>318065894
Deadlocked was challenging as hell, it was great
shame the HD port is an abomination, I would have loved to play that online again.
Also tod is weird. It had a lot of challenging elements and areas but it also had stupid easymode bullshit like free unlimited health anywhere you can backtrack to a vendor

>>318042283
Movie-Drek looks like shit.
>>318066329
Yes.
I owned it(and waited months more due to euro)
Holo shield is fucked
Local multiplayer is gone
Sound and game glitches
Slowdown(grave yard is not fun. Making things go boom takes time)
Fucked up models and animations
Idol games or insomniac have not fixed these issues.
The worst of the 3 remasters. Least everything is intact with 1-3.
>>318066483
Why oh why did they have to give him (& presumably the rest of the Blarg) normal eyes? Design would have been totally fine otherwise
>>318066718
>Local multiplayer is gone
unforgivable
>>318061797
My point entirely.
Why is /v/'s opinion on R&C generally so good? I'm finding myself agreeing with most people in this thread.
New music, crappy weapons. At least TJ Fuckman is no longer at Insomniac. I think.
>>318066910
>my original game was in readable by 2013
>was hyped for this
It is a fucking crime.
>>318066483
>>318066787
>pic
>>318066963
He's gonna be retconned to be good. At least have his redemption be in movie, or him be an unreliable narrator like vid comics.
>>318067023
>TJ Fuckman
Who exactly?
>>318066718
Holoshields were fucked in the 3 port as well (assuming it's the same thing where the holoshield is made up of several rotating squares?). After watching the developer commentaries for 2 & 3 & finding out just how many shortcuts they took to make things work it's not a surprise that there'd be some things which fucked up in the transition, but the amount of slowdown I've seen on HD Deadlocked is inexcusable - ruined both of my favourite challenges (Endzone & Accelerator)
>>318067302
Not that guy but he's talking about TJ Fixman, who wrote the Future trilogy and helped to write the movie
>>318067410
Oh, that fucker.
>>318067410
>that plot
>>318067924
Remember when ratchet and clank were just random guys?
Now they're both jesus
>>318057210
They were like that plenty of times in the old games
>>318059267
Well we've only heard some of it, most of which is probably just stuff for the trailers. Can't write it all off yet
>>318059542
The only real bumps were the PSP games, which don't count since Insomniac didn't make them. And maybe the two MP games, but only because they were clearly done to bank on the Future trilogy's success
>>318067924
I did like how palpable the bromance was in ACiT, & the fact that the game managed to feel like it was just aboutrescuing your bro & teaming up one last time to take down an old nemesis...oh & then some saving the universe thing while you're at it. In fact ToD did it pretty well too. Hopefully that's gonna have been thought out as 'they've been together for a long time' rather than just 'yay best friends forever! :)' - I don't wanna be seeing any of that in this film/game
>>318061797
But the Future weapons were just fine.
What DreamWorks faces, they look just the same as before.
They've been talking since Up your Arsenal
This is how reboots are supposed to be made.
I wonder if they are gonna remake the original RnC trilogy so it fits with the RnC future plot
>>318063754
From what I've seen with the demo, it handles just as solidly as the Future games.
>>318042283
Poikitaru is looks like shit.
The train area and other areas looks excellent though.
>>318068681
I would love that. Updated 2 and 3 especially would be absolutely amazing.
>>318068681
Don't you even fucking dare suggest such a fucking idea again anon, id skin your ballsack if you inspired Insomniac to retcon the trilogy.
>>318067208
He is still a narcissistic fucker
And it will always be hilarious
"You can do anything, as long as you're me"
>>318068831
Who said it's a retcon? Christ, calm the fuck down you spaz
>>318067023
Because RnC hasn't resorted to cookie cutter Dev shortcuts or tried to appeal to a bigger audience
The only thing is the gun designs are getting stale but developing 30+ guns per game you are bound to run out of ideas
Every RnC has a rapid fire gun a rocket launcher shotgun and some form of minion and a bomb
>>318068629
>future and post future weapons
>as main arsenal in Soleana before all this shit went down on PS3
If it didn't replace some of the old weapons are akin to the returning ones in the ps2, it would be fine. But the future ones take a majority of the weapons and seem like they are available from gadgetron.
>no Ricohet missile launcher
>we got a blaster again for first time in years and it's replaced with worse pistol again
>zurkon
>>318067208
I'm thinking the movie will be Quark getting redeemed after his betrayal, but the game might stick closer to the original with him getting shat on after the end.
The Snagglebeast fight clearly has him feigning ignorance about its existence
The music is kinda bad. And the weapons list is a bit meh. Aside from those over the shoulder dialogue sequencesthe series' comedy was mostly in visuals rather than the writing.it looks quite good.
>>318069086
Zurkon isn't that bad. If you don't like it, don't use it. I mean yea, it's a bit weird to have him in Ratchet's corner of the universe, but it's hardly that big a deal.
I think the only gripe I have with the reboot is the weaponry
Gadgetron shouldn't be on par with Grummel Net tech in this time
But rebooting RnC with Ps2 RnC arsenal would be gross
At least I don't have to grind bolts for the fucking tesla claw.
>>318069273
Zurkon (the Groovitron as well) was funny the first time he was showed and never again.
>>318048392
are you kidding me, the PS2 platforming was pretty godly
>>318069385
Don't hate on the PS2 weapons. The weapons in the first game were a bit lacking, but 2 honestly had a fucking great selection.
>>318066787
Because focus groups show you cannot relate to things that are not human looking
This is why mascot gaming is dead and resigned to the indie trash bin + nintendo
>>318066483
The normal eyes ruined it for me.
>>318069065
>I wonder if they are gonna remake the original RnC trilogy so it fits with the RnC future plot
Only way to do that is retconing shit, and fucking hell, thad'be fucking awfull.
>>318069501
I was referring to just the first game
The original trilogy had better weapons than the RnC Future Trilogy
>>318069391
It's still pretty useful when you need an extra shooter for the heavier swarms of enemies. Granted, the groovitron is being forced too much as a staple.
>>318069529
But the first trilogy had no plot, it was practically episodic, the second game is hardly even referenced anywhere after it happens. Not to mention the film is adapting the plot of the first with elements of the third
>>318059510
Yes, sadly. Whenever a dev wants to make a new IP that's usually code for "let's completely trash the old one and leave it to rot and die".
Sly got really fucking lucky, but it still took years for 4 to happen, and only because another studio called Sucker Punch out on their shit.
>>318069529
The only thing I see being retconned in Commando is the villian since Qwark is apparently good now
Up your Arsenal I'm not sure since the first 4th of the game is getting Qwark on his feet to not help you stop Nefarious
After Fallout 4, I really wish they brought back the Constructo Weapon system from ToD.
Only this time not half-assed and limited to 3 weapons.
>>318042283
>>318068758
I disagree - Pokitaru pretty much just looks like an updated version of the first game's.
However:
>that running commentary
At least the lines that characters would say before were just humorous stories rather than just 'you are now looking at [x] & will need to [y]', 'watch out he's got a [your current weapon]', etc
>that crate smashing
no impact at all to hitting them & they just go flying in every direction - no weight or satisfaction whatsoever. Also I hope they're using an obtainable Box Breaker & your hyper strikes don't just explode all the time
>gunplay
no auto-aim? I know it sounds casual but R&C has always been casual as fuck anyway, at least let me enjoy experiencing everything on the screen rather than having to look through that awful crosshair
>>318065528
If you played it as a kid, then yes it was pretty hard. Insomniac got a load of letters about Drek and it's why they never reused him.
>>318069760
Plus, Nefarious is in the movie, you can see his organic form. Whether he'll teal the spotlight from Drek or get "killed off" before the climax to appear in a sequel hook, who knows
>>318066910
He's full of shit. Local multiplayer is intact, online is gone.
Ratchet and Clank 1 is literally the weakest in the series if it wasn't the first on your played
Insomniac really took the time to improve upon their game.
>>318065528
1 is the only hard game in the series, mostly because you only have 4hp till you find the health booster.
>>318069864
>Also I hope they're using an obtainable Box Breaker & your hyper strikes don't just explode all the time
Might be, when I tried the demo, they didn't smash all that spectacularly, at least not like they were being aided by a tool
>>318069961
He'll probably meet the same fate he does in what we see in up your Arsenal
Fight him in a boss figbt
Cutscene of him falling into his robot machine turning him into a robot
>>318055820
>exclusive
Wow, Knack, Rachet & Clank, PS4 is amazing
>>318069595
PS2 games didn't have plot? What? It just wasn't some overarching "you're the chosen one!" bullshit like Future was.
Future's writing was fucking godawful.
It is nice that Ratchet's VA will get more exposure through this movie than he does through that pile of shit Johnny Test.
>>318069826
I agree. If there was one thing I liked about the ToD, it was the added effect of Constructo weapons and having their collectibles scattered as well.
My impossible dream is having a Banjo Kazooie style game with guns and mob density similar to the R&C series, but all your weapons can be modified via collectibles in the world, instead of Jigsaw puzzles or whatever else.
To progress, you have to collect certain weapon mods from the world, such as fire bombs or some shit that you have to lob over a wall to incinerate some vines keeping a door closed or some shit.
Oh well, I'll keep dreaming.
>Making Grummelnet weapons available through Gadgetron
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>318069595
Not him.
Zurkon was and has always been complete garbage.Any gun outdamages it by a large margin, and even though he sticks around for a wile he barely does any significant dps.
Plus, its much better not having to hear him spout stupid bullshit.
>>318069706
I already know all of those things, and whilst im somewhat miffed about Quark now being good, the rest mostly gets a pass. But what Im afraid of in the reboot is how they would inevitably fuck up the locations and the guns.Future series is far too techy, designs are streamlines, no boom has the oomf it once had..
Id much rather 2 an 3 to be the escalation of ratchet, having him be the commando, and evolve from just some guy with a blaster making a rickety ship to the equivalent of the Lombax God.
>>318069760
Like I said above, I mostly don't mind too much, but still miffed about quark.
Im more fearfull of them fucking up the basics of weaponry and stages.Weapon modding and such has no place at Gadgetron, and gadgetron has no right to be this fucking neo.
>>318069506
They wanted to make Drek relatable?!
DREK?
Jesus Christ who cares if the kids just think he's a bad guy for the sake of being bad, at least anyone with half a brain would be able to see his motives (helped by them being as simple & cliché as you can get)

Nah in the vid comic you watch Qwark accidentally push him into his machine and he emerges into a robot
Death to the squishies
>>318070153
No they weren't. First game was Ratchet being an unlikely hero, a selfish one at that before Clank straightened him out. Second game was just another adventure with Quark seeking revenge. Third game was Nefarious coming in.
And no, the Future Trilogy was not them being Jesuses.
>>318070236
Well that's your opinion, I think he's useful in a pinch and don't mind his banter, though it is the same stuff as usual.
Anyone else like Deadlocked?
>>318070656
But wasn't it just some machinery? I can't recall him saying it was for making robots, he just falls in and somehow got converted
>>318070101
Oh please no, it has to be Qwark who does it. Don't let Ratchet & Clank be his nemeses from the start.
Shit anon you've got me worried now
>>318063502
Why? Because of strafe?
But Second Son came out nearly 2 years ago anon.
>>318070814
I'm actually not sure, but I assume it was because turning into a robot because you got crushed by gears seems weird but this is RnC universe

Ratchet is referred too as the last Lombax with spunk

He's still after Quark. They're clearly keeping to him being the fallen hero, and that wouldn't mean much without at least ONE nemesis

Okay.

Being the supposed last of your kind doesn't mean you're Jesus. Even then, most characters just assumed he wasn't important. Don't forget, the series has taken place in at least 4 galaxies or so, so Ratchet's fame isn't reaching to everyone.
>>318070458
Actually, he was one of the two last ones.
Ya forget Crack in Time there pal?
>>318070637
I could actually see them going back to Sly but I doubt they okay'd those designs and they were pretty burnt out on it.
>>318070798
It wasn't as good as Up Your Ass, but it had a lot of great moments nonetheless.
>>318070798
MA NIG
>>318071091
Clank's origin wasn't a malfunction, but something about his "mother" factory apparently deciding to resist Drek's plans. It tied just fine with Orvus' reveal, it's not a Jesus thing.
And again, Ratchet isn't hailed like some chosen one. He got left behind because his dad had to stay behind to keep Tachyon from getting the rest of the lombaxes.
>>318070798
Hated it when I got it for my tenth birthday, looking back it wasn't so bad.

And some guy fucked it up.

Maybe that's just me being a dad
>>318071440
The movie hasn't even shown Carmelita.
But if you're talking about Sly 4, you're massive pleb since that game as on par with Sly2. Even Sucker Punch thought it was a great game.
Future series fucking sucked ass, not holding out much hope for this.
They're too obsessed with being like disney pixar and they seem to have forgotten what made the series charming in the first place. Plus, do we really need to see shit like Mr. Zurkon and the disco ball again? They weren't great the first time round, now it's like a sick joke.
Mechanically it will probably be just like every other Ratchet game, and that's fine, but what's the point in buying a tarted up HD version if they already got it right more than ten years ago?

>It tied just fine with Orvus' reveal
CiT was pretty unmemorable to me, so I can't remember any exact details. However, I definitely remember that I thought the whole plot point was retarded when I heard it.
>Ratchet isn't hailed like some chosen one
You're missing the point. He IS the "chosen one" because he's the last of his kind. He's fated to fight his mortal enemy simply BECAUSE he's the last Lombax.
It's not that characters are actually saying that he's "the chosen one" (though, doesn't Admiral Ackbar or whatever his name is claim he is at some point?), it's that the plot setup itself implies that he is.
>>318071887
In the Future trilogy, yea. No doubt that UYA was the best of the PS2 games
>>318071941
They can't actually say anything else but that, regardless of what "they" truly think about it. They have to say
>"oh yeah, it was good, great!"
but really it's the weakest game in the series.
>>318071959
I always preferred the bouncer over the plasma coil but yes that was a very good weapon
Going Commando probably had the best late game weaponry

No, never. Not to that level.
And I replayed the shit out of them, so I know.
>>318071862
It is. Sly 2 was the best of the trilogy. 1 s really rough and had a bunch of shit minigames, three also had too many shit many games. 2 was repetitive but it was the best of the three.
4 brought back a lot of what made 2 great, and added in service for the fans.

I was hoping Ratchet would find a Lombax weapon and it would be overpowered as fuck showing how dangerous the lombaxes were making his decision to not bring them back seem more understandable
>>318070798
Had more replays than any other game in the series & favourite soundtrack of any game I've played.
Thought it had the strongest weapon selection out of any of the games (best blaster, best shotgun, best melee weapon, best mine, one of the best superweapons, best rocket launcher, & heck even the Holoshield was useful on occasion), & on top of that there were omega mods, alpha mods & 99 levels with fucking rainbows when at max power

I never asked for carmelita, I never asked for every ancestor to be Sly but shit and with one "special" ability, I never fucking asked for wall climbing stages, I never asked for level backtracking, I never asked for unispired bosses, I never asked for a cliffhanger, i never asked for Penelope to go back on her established shit and become evil "cuz lolcash", I never asked for the shittiest fucking vilain ever made, a literal rich skunk fuckboy with a time machine to be the main antagonist, among others.
I never fucking asked for any of this.Best part of the game was Murray as the geisha, but that's it pal.4 is garbage.

Of course you don't even read the whole post. Nate Fox is a genuine guy and gave his honest opinion. If he didn't want to comment on it he would've dodged the question. Try to ask MediaMolecule what they think about LittleBigPlanet3 and you will not get an answer from them.
>>318072704

>>318072398
>I was hoping Ratchet would find a Lombax weapon and it would be overpowered as fuck
The Dimensionator? Pretty damn dangerous given what it did to Tachyon.
The Lombaxes didn't have to be morally ambiguous for Ratchet to be justified in not bringing them back - their original homeworld was a ruin & they'd likely found a new place to settle so dragging them back kicking & screaming just so he wouldn't feel lonely may not be worth risking destroying the universe
>>318072896
Not saying it's a bad thing, I'm saying that potential, lost because no sequel.
Yeah clock la was stupid.
>>318072904

>>318073345
I am upset, I really hate you 4fags, you have such fucking horrible taste I honestly can't believe it. And I say that because the Sly games are one of my favorite series, so when you retards pull that "4 is good!" or "4 is just as good 2!" I can't believe you're actually that dumb.

They ventured out plenty, but Ted needs to stop being such a shitty suit and swallow his pride. They want to stay independent so they're doing anything they can just to get by. Apps, steam games, XBox game, FUSE, now an Oculus game. And none of them have been good so far, nothing they've made since ACIT has been good.
Maybe the new Ratchet has a chance since Insomniac makes both studios collaborate now instead of handing it to North Carolina.
>>318075594
That was just an excuse to retcon his personality from 1 because he was so badly received, both critically and internally.
>>318075893
Nah, it most likely won't be recieved verry well, ratchet 1 wasn't the best of the series, but Its quite understanable that people will be mighty miffed about just making it Future.
They really need to just do the same shit they did in CiT.
>>318070798
I liked all the original games, never understood the concept of "hating one and loving another",
Bring back Deadlocked's style of humor
Future series is alright but the humor of the series definitely peaked with UYA and DL and has been declining
Weapon quality has also dropped since those two games
>>318076203
Are you kidding? There's not really an audience for Ratchet any more, that's why they're trying to reboot it for kids. Most people I know are excited for it because the original trilogy was great and everything afterwards were pretty forgettable.
>>318076452
Won't happen. Insomniac has dedicated "writers" now instead of using their regular developers to write a story.
>>318076582

I played it a few months ago but only for the trophies. It was pretty bad.

It might, this R&C game is also 30FPS

Tools of Destruction has monster hunter planet
And so does ItN
but overall there's less non-combat stuff to do.

Nigga the only difficult thing about 1 vs the other games is 1 has shit controls and poor aiming. You don't get strafe till late game and even then its awful.

Actual guy here.
Remind me in what planets those fields were.
I don't really consider hidden secret currency with small bonuses enough to deem a game a colectathon, especially with a massive focus on gunplay.

yes
Guy was really fair and didn't parrot others. He made utter sense with Crash 1 vs Spyro 1. He actually favored Crash 1 for just reasons.
He made the point that Spyro 1, while massively atmospheric, was the early game in the series with relatively easy and bland platforming outside of levels like Lofty Castle. Crash 1 on the other hand, while it is also the early game with no Analog controls or a good save system, benefited from being a linear platformer. This was because being linear meant the player was constantly engaged with platforming challenges, meaning on a platforming basis Crash 1 was better.
And he said this during a time where linear games were shunned and everything had to be open. What a guy.

I WILL RIP IT
Eventually. I promise. To myself.
>>318079564
>keyboard and mouse? Bunch of casuals, I play with a gamepad to make it much more challenging and hardcore

>>318079613
Oh yeah, Tabora and Grelbin.Man, I remember farming those places, good times.
Aquatos chilled the fuck put of me though.Damm amoebas.
See, besides the limited need for them due to a maguffin, there is no point in collecting shit other than cash. And 3 was just a dungeon that gave ya cash.
Meh, just seems like some sort of bounty system to me, you aren't colecting these for the sake of you need to colect them, mostly just cash.
>>318077831
It's a Ratchet thread so most people will tell you to pick Ratchet first but honestly I prefer Jak.
If you haven't played Sly though, that should be the priority.

But I wanted a new one...

>>318079921
HOPEFULLY they will make at least one game to fit with the original canon.

Compare 3 to ACIT to Nexus if you're really retarded enough to cherrypick arguments.
>>318043494
>implying R&C1 hasn't aged like shit
No strafing just made the game bullshit. I think this series is a prime example of how the gameplay improves with each (non-spinoff) sequel.
I've been itching for a new proper R&C for a long time but having played Into the Nexus I'm a bit worried that it won't be as good as before. That and that its a remake of the original which I've played multiple times.
>>318079986
A billion hits OR two Plasma Storms
Still the most tedious parts of the series though - one thing in fact that ToD did significantly better than its predecessorsIt's lucky that they're largely non-compulsory then, isn't it?
>>318053705
The original Spyro had a lot of sprinting / gliding sections, Tree Tops especially caused a bit of frustration. Spyro 2 was a huge change and was so much easier and the third had too many side characters and dumb missions ruining the mood.

Spyro 1 is one of the easiest (In a good way) games I have ever played.
Tree Tops just had that one island that took a bit of thinking to get to.
>>318081192
It was, I went through and 100% the Trilogy last year and granted I'd already played 2 & 3 but not 1, 2 I got through really quickly but 1 & 3 took me a while. The first actually had some difficult jumps and those Egg thieves which returned in the 3rd.
>>318081595
>That one egg thief in 3 who can glitch and lock you out of getting 100% forever
Why
Every R&C thread reminds me that Nexus exists & that I'm yet to get it. I understand that it's not as good as the PS2 games, but is it at least better than QfB? That's just about below the limit of quality that I'd be willing to pay for with this series
I want to suck Ratchet's cock.
>>318081747
Better than qfb yes.
>>318081961

>>318081595
>granted I'd already played 2 & 3 but not 1,
Well that would be why you thought it was harder.
If you know the first as well as the other two, it is clearly so much easier.
That island in Tree Tops is only difficult the first time because you have to find it
>>318081747
In terms of Future, ACiT>ItN>ToD>QfB
>/v/ told me a Crack in Time was good
>almost as good as the original 3
>get hype and then play it
>its terrible, made Deadlocked look like a masterpiece
>only managed to finish it because I had literally nothing else to do at the time
It honestly just makes me sad that there are people here who think a game like that is even approaching a good level. The series is basically dead now, or at least just a zombie.
>>318083298
>liked Deadlocked and disliked ACIT
into the trash it goes
>>318083471
I like both.
>>318083040
Yeah but I hadn't played them since I was a kid and was much more used to 3d Platformers by that point. Spyro 1 was different, more focus on exploring maps to find hidden gems and what not where as 2 and 3 had more silly mini games.
>>318083298
>ACiT below Deadlocked
>ACiT ever being bad
>ACiT not being the best game out of the Future series
Id point you to the trash board, but even people with shit taste like you don't deserve that kinda hell.

>>318083298
Wouldn't go that far. In fact I honestly thought it would have been a decent contender for the top spot if the music hadn't been poor & the weapon selection arguably the worst in the series up to that point
>>318078225
It's a series that starts off platformer and becomes progressively more and more third person shooter. That's not a bad thing like it was for Jak though.
It's not really a collectathon, you travel to different planets and do one or two mostly linear "levels" on each. The order at which you can travel to planets/do levels isn't strictly linear though.
Jak 1 is a straight up collectathon, maybe check that out?
>>318072005
I don't understand the hate for QfB. And CiT was great.
>>318083814
All R&C's besides non insomniac and spin offs>Jak and Daxter> All other Jaks
Okay maybe J&D is better than Quest For Booty, but really, it doesn't come close to R&C.
I will admit it is atmospheric and pretty looking as fuck in the early stages like the village and beach, or the Snowy Mountain, but gameplay wise R&C has always outdone it. At the very most, Jak and Daxter's atmosphere could bring it equal to R&C 1.
>>318083298
>dissing ACiT
>Dissung Deadlocked
inb4 is only 5 hours long like their last 3 games.
I like Mr. Zurkon and the disco ball. Especially the disco ball, so fuck you all.
>not enjoying the different dances the enemies do
>>318084313
Maybe it's nostalgia but I think R&C1 has a style that none of the others capture. Maybe it's in the music, or in the more platform-oriented gameplay.
I do like how open ended the first Jak is. That and the fact that it doesn't really fuck up at all is what makes it good in my eyes.
>>318084578
It's nice, but there's overusing it and not allowing a new selection possible
RC1 was better off being a little dark than the stupid family friendly crap its becoming now.
Ratchet is supposed to be an asshole who couldn't care less about saving the galaxy until the endgame.
>>318084578
The Groovitron is god tier.

But I doubt the movie will make enough to warrant a sequel. So now the audience will never experience the full extent of Nefarious.

This.
Ratchet being a asshole should have stayed. Its what makes his character building good, he starts as a complete asshole nobody and grows into a actually decent comando.
But hey, Insomniac thinks kids these days will eve play Ratchet and Clank, here's hoping sales go like shit an they learn to just make a better CiT instead of shit like A41.
>>318084227
Short. Annoying NPCs. Can't remember a single time it was funny. No new weapons & the for the only time ever in the series the game pulls a 'you start off with everything, lose it all after the first mission & have to get the exact same things back'. Felt very kiddy in general. Kinda ruined the pirates for me after them being one of the highlights of ToD
>>318084724
>the stupid family friendly crap its becoming now.
Anon, that was always what this was.
Ratchet was only ever an asshole in the first game, and not even Insomniac liked it.
>>318084778
He becomes a robot in the movie. There's even footage of him as a robot in the game.
>>318084724
>>318084981
He's was never supposed to be an asshole. Insomniac employees have even said he was never supposed to come off as that way in the game, which is why they change him so much in 2.
>>318084981
>Ratchet being a asshole should have stayed. Its what makes his character building good, he starts as a complete asshole nobody and grows into a actually decent comando.
Why does everyone think he was an asshole in the first game? Sure, he wasn't a stereotypic goody two shoes but he wasn't a dick either.
>>318084970
Im pretty sure it will be based on the marketing of this game is minimal, and Insomniac still salty at sony.
>>318059510
Even the Ratchet games I have the most hate for (SM, SAC, A4O, and FFA) are for the most part not bad games, and at worst are just incredibly mediocre with some really annoying parts here and there. There series would have a long way to fall to reach the level of the bad Sonic games, let alone Sonic 06.
>>318085384
He kinda was, but not really.
I liked him in the first game though.
>>318042283
>30fps
But there are 60fps R&C games on the PS2 and PS3. Why would I want to play the same thing just at a lower frame rate?
>>318085384
>Threaten to sell Clank for scrap metal
>Mean to him for a good portion of the game over a misunderstanding
>Nearly leaves him at the ending but only comes because "psyche he's le good after all?\"
>>318062626
Ratchet was only really an asshole in the first game, and his story arc in that game was him learning how to be less of an asshole (especially less of one towards Clank). By Going Commando he already had become fiercely protective of Clank ("Touch him and it's PLASMA CITY!"). Which is a considerable shift from the first game where he outright threatened to sell Clank for scrap more than once. Ratchet actually grew and matured over the course of the series.
>>318085384
For one he didn't care about Drek destroying planets until later and he was a complete asshole to Clank after Qwark tried to kill them.
>>318069517
This. If Clank can be expressive with single colored eyes, why can't Drek?
>>318043707
the later levels in the first 3 games were kind of difficult
>>318085930
>Nearly leaves him at the ending but only comes because "psyche he's le good after all?\"
But he never actually intended to leave Clank behind.
>>318084857
ACiT is one of my favourites (heck, most of them are) but I'm gonna play devil's advocate here:
The only way I found to play the space combat was to fly in circles, spraying & barrel rolling constantly. Which wasn't fun at all.
The radio was such a great inclusion but at the same time marred by the music being so inferior to the PS2 games'.
What weapons did you think were great? I thought it had the poorest selection out of any game up to that point.
>Sonic Eruptor was fun but totally outclassed by the later shotgun
>Buzz Blades were good but were just reused from ToD
>RYNO V was good but its gamebreaking nature meant you were stuck with using something less OP unless you want to hear that fucking symphony constantly
>Chimpinator was enjoyable but the standard morph ray & also became incredibly OP once upgraded
>>318086157
Nah in 2 and 3 he would still be an ass to people, he had just bonded with Clank
Then in future he became bland and just muh people and wheres muh clank

You are a pathetic individual.
You can TOTALLY find it, but you can't be arsed to.
Fuck you, you deserve nothing.
>>318086442
I liked the bromance in ACiT. Once you got Clank back I felt a sense of completeness, & Ratchet actually started focusing on the whole 'stopping the bad guy & saving the universe' thing in the usual manner (which made him a lot more like the old Ratchet who didn't really bother with being a hero without his moral compass backpack).
The Lombax stuff was annoying I'll admit, but it tended to feel to me like Ratchet cared almost as little as we did about that stuff. He never got as angry about Tachyon wiping out most of his race & banishing the rest as he did whenever someone wanted to harm Veldin
>>318087706
>He never got as angry about Tachyon wiping out most of his race & banishing the rest as he did whenever someone wanted to harm Veldin
What do you expect? He never knew them. On reflection, I like that at least.
>>318086383
>The only way I found to play the space combat was to fly in circles, spraying & barrel rolling constantly. Which wasn't fun at all.
Shit, I did the same.
>>318087925
Exactly. Ratchet didn't buy into the whole 'last of your kind' BS that was set up around him. He wanted to find out more out of curiosity but had no real emotional attatchment to them, & in fact refused to bring them back - twice.
The writer may have come up with a shitstain of a situation to drop him into but at least he didn't join in with it.
The same can't be said quite so much of Clank's 'you are the chosen one' bit though. I'm sure there could have been a better way for them to give exposure to the Clock
>>318086381
Yes you reiterated my post. Congratulations.
>>318088527
Ratchet was the kind of guy who just did his own thing though. Especially in the first game. Clank always felt he had much more of a moral responsibility.
>>318088527
>The same can't be said quite so much of Clank's 'you are the chosen one' bit though. I'm sure there could have been a better way for them to give exposure to the Clock
I liked it though, and I liked that there was that parallel between Ratcher and Clank's stories where they were being mentored by father figures from a lost family they never knew.
And Orvus is adorable
Although they really glossed over the details of Orvus creating Clank. It was just "you were built in Solana but where did you think your soul came from?"
What does that mean? Is Clank just an Orvus back-up file? They have the same laugh, so maybe
The last boss of CiT was cool

>>318089492

>>318089584
By the time you got a full set of any armor, it would already be obsolete, since it will be too weak against new enemies. And forget about choosing your favorite combinations, since all but one are too weak by the end of the game.

That's pretty much how I interpreted it. Did Orvus also make the Zoni or was he just a special one?
>>318089120
A nice surprise end sequence, for sure. But he had way too much HP & speed to make the only weapon that would have worked thematically usable. I wonder if there would have been possible to make an Omniwrench only fight work...can envision a Crash-style boss

>>318091575
>being this casual to actually need strafing in a game where most enemies die with 2 wrench hits

>>318091862
Bloom is actually a great tool in moderation and I think R&C uses it tastefully. I really wish Insomniac would have at least tried to make the game 60fps but besides that, I have no visual complaints. The game looks amazing. The gameplay looks just as good as all the others.
I'm just worried about the writing. I'm so afraid that this reboot is going end up turning the franchise into a shitty parody of itself in order to get mass appeal. So many series have gone down that road and it'd be a real goddamn shame if R&C followed suit.
>>318093572
I can see the GC and UYA name changes as some slight form of censorship, but the "Deadlocked" to "Gladiator" and the dropping of the future subtitle seems pretty arbitray
>>318093647
As far as I can tell, the only good way to see the difference is panning the camera around a static point, or a side-by-side.
In-game, when I'm actually playing, I can't tell.
And even then the difference is minimal. Visually speaking at least.
>>318084578
Ehh, i could do with a new version of mr zurkon, he's getting stale, plus he's filled the role of autoaim buddy for a while now.
>>318093921
Of course you can't tell when you're playing, you're focused on the gameplay. Framerate is really more of a subconscious thing. You didn't notice it.But your brain did.
I always like how when you get out of the ship it'll show you a wide shot of the level ahead.
Maybe if you're gonna be entering a building, you can see a shot of the building from outside.
It's a cool thing.
>>318094365
Insomniac have always showed off their levels like that. Wasn't the original intention in Spyro that each level would start with a flythrough to show it off?
