how's that obscure?
MGS1 had PC port as well. MG1 & 2 were technically PC games originally.

now, for some truly classic obscures...
>>
>>318026816
Wait, what? There was a Substance version for PC? I should've played that instead of emulating.
>>
>>318027270
I still think this is the dumbest name for a system ever made
>>
>>318026816
MGS2 for the monolith Xbox is more of an obscure port than that.
>>
>>318027314
it's the only version on PC as far as I know.
And it's borderline unplayable on modern PCs. Crashy as fuck, and controls are just bad.

>The best running version of the game is the most obscure version
K
>>
>>318027314
It's not really playable on modern PCs

Just play it in PCSX2, runs flawlessly last time I checked and you can play it in 1080p with AA out the ass so it's basically the exact same experience as the PC version.
>>
>>318027669
nope metal gear was ported to dos and mgs1 is on pc too works perfectly fine with a compatibility patch as does mgs2 the pc version works just fine
>>318027796
nope the pc version is superior to emulation
>>
>>318027796
I've already finished it. Although with some noticeable slowdowns. The thermal vision was also glitchy.
I guess my PC is just not built for emulation.
>>
>>318027796
I'd add that ONLY if you got a DualShock2/SixAxis controller, because playing without the pressure-sensitive face-keys is just a nightmare.

The PS3's HD ports are easily the best way to play the original MGS games.
>>
>>318026816
The one I played. Did the job okay until the Solidus fight, no way to swing the fucking katana.
>>
>>318027669
>And it's borderline unplayable on modern PCs. Crashy as fuck, and controls are just bad
BS

It doesn't crash at all.

Controls ARE iffy but they are fixable with xpadder

Some effects are also missing like Marines commander not showing up on jumbotrons in a ship hold

but otherwise it's playable
>>
>>318027746
Actually that looks like the android version of RE4
>>
>>318027756
Anon, do you know what obscure means?
>>
>>318028159
I was literally unable to finish it on PC because of unexplained crashing around the middle part of the Big Shell,
>>
>>318027270
MGS1 PC port has gimped Psyco Mantis fight and FMV don't work.
>>
>>318028407
It's based on the android version

>>
>>318034790
It's surprisingly decent too. I mean, there's little reason to play it instead of the PC version, but it's certainly not just some butchered port.
>>
>>318033174
>How do pressure sensitive controls work on pc version?
You can set them to separate switch on a hotkey or a controller button (i set it on L3 or something)

Similarly to how it works on 360 port

>>318028463
ymmv, i completed the game and then played further up to half and it didn't do crash

>>

MGS3 was playable when I emulated it

There was noticeable slowdown in cutscenes and graphical glitches anywhere where there was water but it was fine apart from these
>>
>>318026816
That fucking port didn't work with certain audio hardware (realtek I think?) and would crash every time for me before I could see the konami logo. Figured out I could use the xbox 360 as a sound device and played that entire game with that shitty mono ear piece the entire way through. Man that was bad.

saddest thing, you can two player co op against the AI in multiplayer

imagine playing at like 5 fucking fps and trying to manage units

also, you have both SC and BW, but to access the BW content, you needed an expansion pak. also, there is like ZERO voiced dialogue for characters, its all text and it sucks.

don't play it, don't buy it because your a fucking collector, just trash it HARD.

Quake III had a PS2 port that had a different HUD and interface that actually looked better, but it also had a completely overhauled SP mode.

Those playable in it were Sarge, Doom, Klesk, Daemia, and Anarki, they had different stats like max health, armor, damage, and speed. Funny enough Doom was the slowest.

Some of the matches gave you different starting items for the next. Before a tier advancement was a challenge where you have to deplete a bot player's lives before being seamlessly teleported to another map with the next combatant until you win or lose all of your own. Upon advancement you got a new, unique skin with some stat bonuses. Characters like Sarge became more like a cyborg, Daemia eventually got goggles, and most will get some electronic parts animated like Doom's visor. You can use these buffed characters in multiplayer if you wanted to.

It even had a final boss who's basically the guy who is the announcer and runs the entire fucking thing, the fight boiled down to sniping off his electronic barrier conduits and collecting all the powerups you could as he had a fuckton of health

It had some Team Arena features like the weapons, some maps, and I think a player model or two, but lacked everything else like the team runes/pickups.
