The gameplay's the best of the PMD games I'd say, but it's not exactly like the past ones. There's a much greater need to make use of your items. This bothers some people. Story's the worst of the games I'd say, unless all you want is spectacle and hype, then it's the best.

The cast is likable at the school, but overall in the first ten chapters very little happens. There's a bit, but there's no reason to spend as much time in the town as you do. Things start ramping up after, and the plot itself is good, but you never really get enough time to get attached to the Society folk, and their personalities aren't as solid as your classmates were anyways. Then after youget back from the Voidlandsthe plot just kinda falls apart with a lot of things either not explained, explained poorly, or explained in a way that just brings up more questions; as well as some things seemingly being done for no reason but to try and get a rise out of the player emotionally with pretty much zero actual plot progression, character development, or anything of the sort happening because of it.
Gates actually had a pretty solid story. Maybe a bit childish, I could see that, and with an issue with telling more than showing, but it was solid, and at least there was more to it than the bare minimum plot of Rescue Team.

Can finally put some time into it after finishing Stella Glow.
Poliwrath River was a bitch as I got Totodile/Chimchar for the player/partner. Had to rush it and scraped by the bosses at the end thanks to some good emera I got.
Salamence was also a pain. Did the devs remember roguelikes are usually hard as balls for this game?

Not really. The items are generally really OP outside of some bosses. Petrify orbs just completely ruin monster houses, infinite status effect that prevents all action until you hit them. Then Truant + Slumber / Confuse wands for single enemies.
I don't really care about the remaining 17. I'll do it eventually.

Funny thing, my usual bag is 5 Reviver seeds, 5 Oran berries, 5 elixirs and 2 max elixers, and about 5 apples. the rest of the space is usually filled with wands and orbs and such.
The only items I ever end up using on that list are my reviver seeds, 3 oran berries and about 3 apples. Everything else I find littered on the floor. Wands and orbs usually don't get used till the boss though.

I'm like 37 hours. Fennekin and Riolu were my partners. I have a little over 200 recruits and I'm doing the last part of the post-game story.
My Fennekin is really strong from vitamins but is only level 28. My highest level is a level 70 Mewtwo.

I've done a few missions in lively city. It's pretty fun, I've mainly been using my starter, partner, and another I pick at random (usually I keep in mind 3x xp bonuses). Should I be using all three motivated teammates? I just feel leveling my partner and I is more important for the story missions.

Personally I only use motivated pokemon if there is an Unknown on the team, because then you get a 6x exp bonus. I had a pokemon go from level 40 to 50 in a single dungeon once.

From my understanding, experience is universal except obviously the Motivated Pokemon gets x3 exp BUT if your team is all three of the currently Motivated Pokemon then everybody gets x3 exp.

I really love this fucking game but one thing that makes me irate is the questionable party AI. I kind of wish I could control each member, or at least wish they had smarter AI so they could position themselves properly without blocking someone from attacking while in a room or something.

You can control each member to some extent by switching the party leader. Can't do it on story missions though, which is a bit annoying.

I wouldn't necessarily call it good. It was very flawed.
But it was very different from other PMD games including super. The difficulty came from randomness derived from mysteriosity and the V wheel. Weather was additionally much more of an obstacle. There was more variety in the game than other PMDs in a sense as you never really knew what dungeon you were entering or if you had a type advantage. It's just too bad the dungeon layouts didn't better represent that.
But there was just too much broken shit. Team attacks were unbalanced as hell and reviver seeds were way way way too accessible with the gardening mechanics in paradise.
None of that will stop me from liking the game though.

If you had one at the lowest level you get a yield of one seed I think every three days? Do three piss easy dungeons in the meantime and you get a free seed. You get another low level garden that's two free seeds. Suddenly youre halfway through story mode and you're making more seeds than you can possibly use.

Doesn't stop them from one shotting everyone in the room and giving you a huge permanent damage increase for the floor. It's a crutch for monster houses and boss battles. Theres no tension.
