Skills are tied to weapons.
You can only mix and match weapons if you master the class. For example, mastering Galaxy Knight allows you to use Photon Sabers as Duelist. If you want offense and debuffs, master Duelist so you can Longswords with ranged weapons from the Enforcer line.

How different are the quests in XCX from Xenoblade? Although I love Xenoblade, I don't see or have motivation to complete the gathering quests, or even the kill quests.
I feel like I've skipped a lot of side-activities outside of exploring simply because I don't want to gather for just a monetary award.

Green, Purple and Blue (Heal, Debuff and Aura) arts are all independent of the weaponry used, so they share seperate cooldowns from arts tied to weapon usage, so what you are actually describing is perfectly possible, you just need to dip into both Enforcer and Striker lines to get the arts you need.

Technically cause it is an Aura, it gives all your allies (both multiplayer and single player) access to a pretty powerful heal and debuff removal.

Still, inflicting topple this time around is much more complicated than just following Break ----> Topple ---> Daze and as Daze was removed there is now only the Stagger ---> Topple interaction, which is kind of a good riddance as stagger can be inflicted on foes with a variety of conditions, like breaking specific parts of a monster, using specific arts or abilities the enemies are weak to etc etc...

Of course they were wrong. There are legitimately good seiyuu, but a huge chunk of them are also essentially the same kind of person as the talentless starlets you get in regular tv and movies. They aren't helped by the fact that Japanese game and anime writing is horrendously repetitive and predictable even by the low standards of American tv and games.

Maybe by Japanese standards that may be the case, but when you're comparing American and Japanese voice acting, Japan has the bar set noticeably higher. What may be hammy to them still oftentimes carries more emotion and better inflection than the majority of American VAs. This is in no small part due to how much bigger the anime scene is over there. They put out more animated shows per quarter than just about any other nation, and as such, because of that, there's way more demand for voice actors. Since there's more people getting into voice acting, then that means that there's going to be a bigger selection to choose from. When there's a bigger selection to choose from, they can afford to be picky and pick the right-feeling voice for the job, or the higher-quality voice actors. There's a bigger pool with a greater selection of variety and quality than in the Western voice acting scene, and the end result is that to get noticed, you have to be good or better. That isn't so much the case in America, since the same ten or twenty voice actors get used in EVERYTHING because they're well-known, not for being good mind you, but for their type of voice, and everyone else is just an extra.

Also there are a lot of common phrases you get used to while consuming JP media and understand small talk without needing to translate a thing.
Yeah, I learned JP too to some degree, precise translation of dialogue spoken by VA don't affect it quality.
