Both games appeal to completely different tastes. Rocket League's appeal is pure gameplay while Undertale's appeal is mostly story, narrative fuckery, and a little gameplay interest.

And I agree completely, Undertale has a strong emphasis on the story, characters, and narrative aspects, and I won't deny that effort wasn't put into it, however it's still weak in the departments I mentioned before. Sprite animations for the main character getting up or laying down seem supremely lazy, Papyrus giving the protagonist the shocker orb among others. I know some of the animations get a pass because of comedy value and is understandable, but there is still a lazy low effort impression from some of them
Furthermore, some of the backgrounds in Waterfall are just flowers randomly spread around on a black backdrop. The final approach to New Home is just the same building(s) copy and pasted.
Whereas, in my experience Rocket League provides a much more succinct solid experience with fewer important flaws.
It's apples to oranges man. I wish these two games weren't put up against each other since their both excellent in what they set out to accomplish.

NopeChara died, joined with Asriel, then died again. Asriel's dust scatters on a golden flower, which later becomes Flowey (not actually Asriel, just inherited his memories). Chara was given a burial, but later Toriel took their body, and buried them in the Ruins. Under a bed of golden flowers.
When Frisk falls down, the spirit of Chara invades Frisk's body (possibly even died, and just became alive thanks to Chara). When you start the game, you are playing Frisk, but Chara's soul is also within your body. Chara is YOU. YOU are representing the old RPG games' motivation: get stronger by killing others. The more you divert yourself from that path, the less influence Chara gains over Frisk's body, and by the end of the True Pacifist run, completely dissapears. If you do the Genocide route, all that progress makes Chara fully awaken, subdues your soul and takes control of Frisk's body.

If you did the "neutral pacifist" route (didnt kill anyone), you can just load your save from before the asgore fight, befriend papyrus undine and alphis and you get the true ending
(even if you try to get the true ending in your first run, you need to beat it once to trigger the alphis date)
