yeah, LD games were the same as LD movies (i actually own some)
where a laser would read these lengthy refractions from disc and it would be used in analog circuitry to directly manipulate a magnetic field of sorts.
LDs are analog, but this is pretty much how digital CD works too, only the refractions have a much shorter length and there is a specific type of interpreter which translates much smaller chunks,

Like I said, it's not shitty 3d that gets me. Only a very specific type of it. Usually stuff where character has some attempt made to look human or have really oily skin.
Funny Pizza Land and Blackbay Asylum are perfect examples of this. Both games have a main character who, especially in cutscenes, fucking repulses me.
I really do think it's the skin most of all. It just looks too real for something that otherwise looks garbage. It's really disgusting.
