The heros are mechanically like 1/3rd of TF2 classes because they want to make money selling them, like torb is JUST the turret and symetra is the teleporter
The game requires less thought than both it's moba competition( LoL and Dota 2 ) AND it's FPS competition( CSGO )
There are some classes that just don't even play a FPS game like reinhardt, where your job is literally to stand there and be a stupid wall, you don't actually do anything except hold right click to put up the wall. Oh he's OP btw so someone on your team must take this shitty boring hero.
They don't have a kill feed or a scoreboard so you can't even fucking tell when there's a momentum changing moment

Maps are just Point A being imbalanced in favor of attackers and Point B being imbalanced for the defenders( replace point B with the end of a payload route for payload maps ). You never get a nice balanced back and forth game.

I find it very meh. Gameplay is good, but they really enforce such a ridiculous need for a healer and good composition. Its like impossible to have fun solo. The difference between how easy it is to defend, and how hard it is to attack is insane.
They need a new game mode not centered around attacking or defending.

Pretty accurate. You can also shutdown games completely by every selecting the same hero. All Bastion's on defense is broken as fuck, offensive is just full Reinhardt or Soldiers.
Lot of character and charm in the game but I don't see myself investing much more time in it.
Respawn timers are also kind of shitty. 6 seconds to revive then 12 seconds to walk back to your team is a fun killer and even more so if you get killed by a 1-shot mechanic.

Fun game but incredibly sterile and safe like all of Blizzard's games. Expect see-saw balance changes that take several months to implement, team comps that will be found to be the most viable/efficient in pugs which'll lead to even stale'er games because 6v6.
Probably going to be dead in the water much like Titanfall. Interesting concept/idea, but MP only and price tag will kill it

Does the game have way more lethality than TF2 or does it just seem like it? In TF2 pretty much every weapon except the sniper rifle was almost useless at long range, while in this game it seems like you can get two-shot by a revolver or something at any distance. Falloff really seems nonexistent.

Those are the fatal or very damaging abilities off the top of my head. Of course if you're not a tank you likely die to the majority of the above and if you're 75% health or less you also die. Really, you just do a whole lot of dying when every gets their specials up.

I've yet to see a play of the match that was interesting. Most of the ones I see are just someone mopping up a bunch of nearly dead players...but usually it's just someone getting 2 kills quickly.
I played one match, and i'm not playing another one until A) It's easier to find out what the characers abilities do. You can read by clicking the info button, but if you couldn't find that, who knows what half the abilities do, honestly.
B) they increase FOV by another 30 degrees. I feel smushed, holy shit. Or half the size of the shitty gun models.
C) I can tell WTF is going on. I don't play dota 2 but i could open that up right now and understand better than this game. It's just shit exploding - the low FOV doesn't help.
D) THEY REMOVE ULTS. It's not any fun watching a kill kam of soldier 69 looking at the sky shooting and killing people. Ok , it was funny the first time, but after that it's like - really? That's the best you could come up with? Some auto aim freekills ability? fuck

The game super slow, the characters are just gigantic meat blobs of bullet spunges - minus the sponge, really. It's nearly impossible to miss, and yet somehow they gave one of the characters an ult he doesn't need to aim to just multikill.
The FOV is zoomed in far as fuck and the character models don't scale so you still get a giant gun in the middle of your screen.
No scoreboard, WTF.
They've really made it unenjoyable in every sense of the word, good thing i waited to preorder, christ.

Yeah, the point is that if you can't find the button, the abilities are not well telegraphed. For example, in league of dota, or even WoW, for the most part it's very easy to tell what is happening or what your ability is doing, without reading it.
In overwatch, it's very hard to tell what your ability is doing or why you can't move, etc, but the telegraphs are poorly done. Take the sound guy, for example. The implication is that if you have the gun on one it heals and the other it damages.
That's not true. It just heals in an aoe if it's on the heal mode and speeds in an aoe on the other mode, and it deals damage no matter what completed unrelated to the "mode" on the gun.

It's unbalanced, it's multiplayer-only, its plot is an excuse for the game to be there at the very fucking best (like, why the fuck can I play Overwatch heroes and Talon heroes in the same team with no explanation? They're mortal enemies), the maps are simplistic and small because they have to run on consoles, many heroes feel the same as others, the only ones that do make a difference in playstyle are extremely overpowered or extremely useless, ultimate attacks are the most pointless shit to ever be introduced in a genre that is pretty pointless to begin with and the servers were obviously not ready for "stress testing" because it crashed, frequently.
This might be because there was obviously no rhyme or reason whatsoever with the invites this time now that the streamer crowd has had their fill and went back to playing Minecraft, but every other player sucks. If you see anyone playing as Widowmaker or some other such hero, chances are it's a waifufag that doesn't know tits from ass in an FPS and is only there for the literal tits and ass, that he doesn't even get to see because it's first person.
All in all, a pretty shitty experience that I have no intention of repeating, specially because at launch it won't be free.

The point i'm making isn't that i'm new or a vet to the other games, it's just the amount that an ability is telegraphed. Some characters have verious obvious ability effects - see the "wall" character. Others are not as obvious, see "the sound" guy. You can't even hardly tell when you cast his Q, and the enemies can barely tell that you're an aura whore behind them. The same goes for the ball throwing guy, it's not super obvious what he's doing.

Nah man, her pistol does retarded damage if you get all the hits. Most times I can get back her mech in like 10-15 seconds if there are enemies around to shoot at.
I wasn't expecting her to be so fun. It's really great when you get into a cycle of switching between the two forms.
But yeah, overall opinion of the game is that it's pretty fun. Almost definitely not worth even the $40 pricepoint right now. The problem is there's only 2 game modes and I can feel that it would get really repetitive after a while.

Her pistol gives like 3% of a charge per hit, fires fast as balls and does STUPID amounts of damage. Hell if you land shots its stronger than most primaries on top of granting you a free lol I just got 600 health back mech.
She should be weak as balls outside of the mech, not good at all.

I'm having a similar experience with Mei. At first she seemed like she was good for nothing, not doing enough damage to kill anyone, and not having enough health to tank, but her slow and disable really shuts people down, her wall is useful in many different situations, and her ice block makes her take forever to kill.

It's only been 1 day and this shit is already getting really annoying.
Yeah wow i am so impressed at that reaper skating into 3 people while an invulnerable ghost then pressing Q. I'm also really impressed at torbjorn turrets having more health than a tank and being able to aimbot you from across the map as long as you're on the screen.

Mei is only as good as her team. If the enemy team isn't full of squishy shitter cowboys and snipers there's nothing she can do by herself since it takes 20 seconds to kill one person.
forcing a tank away from his team with a wall isn't useful if nobody else follows up and helps kill them.

The aesthetics are nice. It's so refreshing to play a FPS that's not MUH GRIMDARK MODERN WURFARE. Lots of details in the levels.
The controls are okay. Feels like arcadey shootan to me.
The gameplay is okay. It's pretty fun the first time but the matches tend to not offer anything new once you've played all the characters once or twice. The respawn timers feel pretty good to me. It feels impactful when I kill an enemy without being tedious when you died on defense.
The roster of characters feels varied and everyone feels different. They're all extremely easy to pick up and play but that also makes them feel like they may not have a lot of depth.
The map design is okay. They're linear with only one or two alternative paths.
The servers are kinda shitty.
The lack of a traditional FPS scoreboard or kill feed is kinda shitty.
The commendation system is pointless.
The play of the game replay is a nice feature. I like it a lot even if it's mostly just getting that lucky multikill.
All in all I think it's okay. Not great. Not bad.

Don't get it twisted this is the beta and you cant judge the end product from beta. With that said.
The game play is smooth and enjoyable.
I love the variety of champions, I do agree with most of the other posters that the maps get stale aswell as the game mode but its the beta its not supposed to have the full game available.
I also agree there is no sticking power in the beta, you earn nothing and you are just playing to play. Which in my eyes is a bad model, you should be able to unlock stuff and there should be a more competitive mode for the beta.
They honestly should've just put ranked in even thou it would get wiped at launch you should still have something to work for during the beta, and not just playing to play.
I love the team aspect of the game, I feel most champions are balanced with a few top tier ones.

Mobility is strong and if designed well it's one of the most enjoyable part of an FPS, but the way Tracer was designed is just terrible. Her base movement is really slow, and her blinks are one of the worst dash mechanics I've ever seen and seems really irritating to play against. Anyone who's played UT2k4 knows what I mean, but at least in 2k4 it was fun to use, wasn't untrackable and despite dodge being really strong against projectile weapons, there was an interesting dynamic between the two that is just absent in Tracer's design.

Her charge up power is that she revives everyone on the team no matter where they are on the map
So basically during a final push you all charge in except her, they all kill and get killed, then she just resurrects and basically you win if the enemy team doesn't also have a mercy. Also the amount of healing she does is absolutely crazy. There is no reason not to pick her.

The game isn't worth a damn. It looks like Borderlands without guns + TF2 without hats. The only redeeming qualities are the character designs, but the game plays so poorly. Maybe when they don't do a stress test, it'll be worth trying and properly criticizing, but right now it's as good as a Bethesda game before it gets modded.

Dodging in 2K4 is among the shittiest mobility mechanics ever.
You lose your momentum since you have to stop for a fraction of a second to tap twice.
The hop's consistent movement is contested by the environment. The distance is short on level terrain and you go nowhere if there's a slight incline in your direction. You're better off just jumping if you want to "dodge". The only thing it was good for was jumping off the edge of few select ledges to get some distance, but then again, a double jump will get you just as far.

I'm having more fun than I ever had in TF2, and I loved TF2 (up til about the heavy update, anyway).
It's a given that it's sort of a casual/party game, but it does have some high skill cap characters and it could definitely be played competitively ala Smash Brothers.
Definitely give this game a try if you haven't.

Expac's would split the game its no worse than buying hero's individually unless the expac's are free which would be unlikely. Lets be real here blizzard is trying not to say whether or not they'll monetize hero's to avoid bad press and to leave it open to monetize the shit out of the player base at a later date.
Needs a ranked/level up system of sorts, and some more maps/game modes.
It has a lot of potential, but as of right now it's just fun for a little bit.

Blizzard has made a clear turn towards a different market. They've only continued with Starcraft this long out of fan expectations. I'm sure they would have dropped all the effort required to attempt to foster a legit 'hardcore' community. They can make styrofoam nothing games like HOTS and try to jam it down our throats.
From here on out, we will exclusively get games like Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch. They make games for the least common denominator. Soulless collections of coin packs and XP boosts that amount to skins for hollow gameplay.
Anyone who dealt with a pre-2010 Blizz (which I bet is a surprisingly small chunk of their current playerbase) knows how disappointing this all is.

her left click is for killing hard to hit targets at close range that don't have much health (eg tracer). She's not meant to fight away from her turrets though, so her damage is balanced accordingly.
her turrets may be individually weak, but you can place them in all sorts of locations, and you can place a lot of them. and unlike Torbjorn you aren't reliant on a resource to build/replace them, only a cool down. same deal with her shields.
the alt fire is a hard counter to Bastion in siege mode. He has to move or you will kill him so either way Bastion is no longer playing to his strengths

You should try dodging while running (for example move forward using W and double-tap A or D; adjust the camera direction so the impulse still sends you towards your destination, obviously). In addition, you can jump once while in a dodge (and you can dodge off walls.) This allows for a lot more mobility than you think, and when combined with shield jumping and elevator jumping, you can do a lot of cool stuff.
