5 games in and I am done. Too teamwork focused for solo play and alot of characters feel really useless against a good composition. Defenders win most of time, easier to have a comp to stop pushes than it is to push.

I see a problem of having too much health/shield stacks on a team. Feels the game isn't balanced remotely around not having a good team composition. 2-3 shield users already feels like you are strong enough to not lose vs pubs.

I just played 3 games and dominated them all with the medic. Nobody picks the healer and like in all games, the healers are fucking overpowered and you will lose if your team doesn't have it.
That doesn't even scratch the surface of the games problems, though.
Maps are way too small, and every corridor is so claustrophobic you can't see anything. You can really tell Blizzard are rookies when it comes to FPS maps.
The guns have no feedback and feel weak, all of the guns feel exactly the same, I can't tell how much damage I should be doing when playing a so called "dps" class or a tank. They all feel the same.
The game is just a massive clusterfuck with everyone just getting killed from behind because the maps have so many corridors you can't cover every backpath, which just leaves you getting killed from behind while shooting at someone else in front of you.

I didn't get in. Again. Oh well.
Quite a few heroes just feel way to strong. I understand balance is a thing that is being worked on, but some of them are very obvious things that shouldn't be a thing at all. You can have a team composed entirely of larger characters with more health and stomp the other team based on that alone. Shields make the game generally unenjoyable. It feels like a constant lock behind a wall with heads popping out. In terms of performance, on my GTX 970 I should be able to maintain 60 FPS, but I cannot. I had to lower a few settings to do that. This game, although it has nice art, is not graphically impressive enough to be causing Frame Rate Drops on a GTX 970. I played three characters. All of them had a common problem: The movement feels slow. I expected very fast, very smooth gunplay, comparable to Call of Duty, but in a Team Fortress 2 environment. Instead it feels like a slower version of Team Fortress 2. The odd part is, despite it feeling so incredibly slow, the 1v1 Battles are just too quick. Even with a weapon that is not hit scan things are far too fast to hit unless they are, standing behind a shield for instance, and you get incredibly lucky. What I found was that the weapons do not sound strong they sound generally weak, with the exception of the hitmarkers, the game feels far too silent. The absolute biggest issue I have though is not even any of these, it is that it generally feels boring. When a match is happening there is far too much running and not enough shooting, I would compare it to playing Battlefield without Vehicles of any kind, that is how slow it feels. I think to compensate for this ingame Music could be implemented, much like in Heroes of the Storm. It would help keep things "Noisy" for lack of a better word. In terms of actual feedback regarding server performance the matches I played were incredibly stable when we were actually playing.

It feels like TF3. I mean really it's got all the same shit going on except that there is this MOBA-esque model for the characters with ultimates and there being so many of them.
SUPER polished, I just don't know how much longer a TF gameplay style can hold my interest anymore. I mean so far they haven't innovated much in terms of the gameplay modes.
If you're some kind of underage b& though that never played any TF you will be in for a treat.
My only problem right now is turrets. In a pub it can just put everything to a standstill. I'm sure in an organized game though there are a billion ways around them.

Great post, I agree with you on most fronts.
Winston is literally the best tank by a large margin, has speed comparable to Tracer, and deals as much damage as half the roster.
Most tanks deal as much damage as anyone else, but can soak up more themselves and are just inherently better.
Literally the only counter I've found to a tank swarm is countering with at least 2 (already set-up) Bastions.
I haven't gotten a chance to try everyone's Ultimates yet, but most of them feel underwhelming out of some of the Assassin's. Especially Bastion.
As for the sound, I agree the game spends too much time doing nothing sound-wise and visually. Needs some major tweaking.

Holy fuck this. Just played two capture games in a row and all we had to do was spam turrets from dwarf and symmetra then just afk at the point. Neither team could do anything and just stood around until the timer ran out.

I agree most ppl don't know how to deal with them. The trick is mostly any character with AoE. grenades, landmines (which will explode around corners), Bastion's Ult, etc.
That is, if the Torbjorn/Symmetra know what they are doing, which with the addition of the swarm of Weekenders, is very unlikely.
This game makes me miss vanilla TF2: a game where the devs knew exactly what they wanted and every class was balanced well because you didn't need to take into account flying mechs and timetraveling roadrunners.
It's everything that's wrong with most modern games. Cast a wide net to make sure it has something for everyone instead of making a tight and focused package.
I hope everyone gets into the beta so they can see what a mess the game is.

Attacking as Bastion is fun as fuck on any map with backdoors/upper and lower sections, like the Payload Caves map.

If her mech is destroyed then she goes down to 150 max hp, has a 20 shot rapid fire pistol that requires sick leads, and has no abilities. She slowly charges a mech delivery, about 1%/sec. Damage increases it faster, as usual with other ults.
As for the bomb ult, you don't even have to kill anyone to get an instant refund. I don't even think you have to damage anyone and if you do its probably only one damaged hero needed to get the refund. Thing is that it's instakill on everything but the tankiest heroes and lv 3 turret, no matter the range.

Just use Lucio's speed to kite while shooting his balls at people, the longer you live, the longer everyone lives. That with a really high base move speed and his ability to burst speed when you switch tracks and "crank it up" makes him hard to deal with, even for a tracer.
His gun will probably seem really weak at first but the right click is good at pushing people away from objectives and the left click makes for decent suppressing fire.

Skilled Bastions can wreck hard but, as I said a lot earlier in the thread, defense can depend heavily on the map layout so a lot of his performance is how well he handles the pressure of finding a REAL GOOD spot with decent angles all while getting lit the fuck up.
Tracer, Raiden, D. Va, and Rocketlady are decent counters. I personally have a lot of success handling Bastion as D. Va since she can boost WHILE using that projectile negation

Halo is more of an arena shooter than TF2 and it's console slow.
There are barely any new arena shooters. And Reflex is slower than CPMA, UT fans want to make the new game slower.
Played that jap map, our Torbjörn pretty much won the game for us, we played as defenders, we lost A pretty fast. Our Torbjörn put up a turret at B that prevented the enemy team from advancing for 7 minutes, I played as reaper and that ninja dude killing their tracers and pharas that tried to destroy the turret.
this game feels just as lifeless as all of blizzard's other games.

I didn't start playing PC until a few years after release, but I did play the 360 version for awhile when OB came out. But as someone approaching 1500 hours on the PC, I have to say the teams are almost never balanced in pub play, which unfortunately is how the vast majority of players experience the game.
Another thing veteran players also forget is the early maps were garbage. I can't take people who enjoy corridor/spam fests like dustbowl seriously.
So I was responding to the gameplay and visuals. My remark was more about how a solid 50% of the posts I see on here seem to hold vanilla tf2 up as some kind of perfection, when in reality it was far from it.
And I'm not defending overwatch. Unlike the vast majority of this board, I am withholding judgement until the game is released. I have been watching some streams, and I'm excited to try it out, but I'm worried about the game both in itself (skill ceiling, pacing, paywalled heroes) and external factors (making the game accessible to everyone at the expense of more serious players, politics)

The run speed on some medium characters isn't super high. It's not like Quake where you're gliding all the fuck over the place on ice skates. It's a fast paced game. The maps are not very big. There's a lot of chaos and dodging projectiles/explosions. You spawn frequently. The minor travel times are necessitated by the fact that the games are all payload/capture point based.

Actually a fair amount of ultimates can be shut down with either some simple positioning or another hero's ability, both basic and ult.
Zenyatta's [Robomonk's] ult speaks for itself, D. Va can laugh at Rocketbitch's ult by using her laser defense system, Mei's wall can stop a lot of things but the payload smashes it if it makes contact.

You could tell at a glance they were just mercenaries. And their names were their roles in combat, you didn't have to take a second to figure out who the fuck Reinhardt because they're men of war, not special snowflakes. From the bases you could tell the time period, and the announcer was obviously your boss telling you what to do.
In overwatch the sci-fi setting doesn't mesh well with some of the character designs. It doesn't make sense why the medic can hell d.va in the suit (same healing beam works on people and machines?). It doesn't make sense why the cities are empty. It doesn't make sense why there are future cars parked on the street yet if you look at the skybox there seems to be future cars flying high above the ground.
Glad i got into the beta weekend. Some of the best sleep i've had this month.
