Ok let's take away the nostalgia factor.
I never got into melee when i first started picking up smash, i just wasn't introduced to it because all of my friends played Brawl. I loved Brawl and played it all the time for years.
Then what happened? I started getting competitive with Brawl and started practicing to beat my friends when we got together.
Then i learned that there's more out there, like Melee, where it's faster, has a greater skill cap, and has a completely different meta than Brawl.
So, i picked that up and now i love Melee and understand why one is better than the other; no nostalgia included. Most people who play smash 4 are the most interested in seeing characters get in the game, rather than improvements to gameplay. Smash 4 was literally designed to cater to the masses rather than a niche audience that enjoys competitive Melee. Sakurai said this himself.
But my question is, have you played Melee? Have you taken your blinders off and tried something different for once rather than just spouting bullshit on how much better a slower, post millenial pandering game is?
Take away nostalgia, the bigger cast in 4, and the better graphics, and look at gameplay, because in the end that's all that matters. Melee is superior for that reason.
