It's possible to win a FFA if you stay away from others 95% of the time and only come down to punch them once. You can also win entirely without fighting if the enemy falls off the stage by themselves. You can also get a tie if only one of two fighters actually fights the other, if the one not fighting is good enough at not falling off then it's still a tie. Not to mention stage hazards can also win matches for you. The primary goal is to not fall off the stage, the fighting is just a middle man.

Nintendo didn't have Sonic Boom Sonic to push Sonic Boom, we didn't get Inklings to push Splatoon, We didn't get the newest fire emblem characters to push the new games, we just got the old ones. There is a big difference between those characters who got in Sony Smash, and those who got in Smash.
