This topic reminded me of what sometimes happens with site OC. Off site people or not, these type of things are prone to become circlejerks unless contributors make it completely accessible to willing participants. Best thing people can do is abandon the project and let it die when it gets out of hand. It could possibly be revived without the troublemakers, but you would have to wait long enough and be super diligent with avoiding circlejerk 2.0.
