They are fine, only issue with is I've yet to find a cellphone that I can play for more then an a few hours on throughout the say before it dies. Got a Nexus 6 now and the only reason it's tolerable is because of the quick charge

Mobile ports have higher resolution (look better) but have worse controls (touch).
Also mobile version of 4 is the only one that isn't butchered, since they cut out the entire Party Talk feature in the DS version during localization since they rushed it out the door.
They actually translated and included Party Talk (which is good 30% of the game's entire dialogue and FUCKING CRUCIAL STORY) in the Mobile version.

As someone who played DQIV on android, I would definitely recommend it. My only gripes are the battle portraits are far too small and the font choice blows. But other than that I had a great time playing it

I would probably recommend emulating 1-3 on snes however. As I heard those ports have problems

4-6 should be fine however

The only one I would avoid is 8, as I hear it also has alot of problems

For I-III:
PROS:
-Mobile I-III has orchestrated soundtracks.
-II adds a lot of stuff that makes the last stretch of the game less tedious.
CONS:
-They will look like shit if you have a large screen, the forced portrait mode might also put you off.
-Various cut content like the casino stuff from I-II, the Pachisi, intro animation, and animated sprites from III.

For 4,5,6 you have to choose between the forced portrait mode of the mobile versions and the abysmal fucking native resolution of the DS unless you emulate it on the PC.

Also honorable mention for PS2 version of 5 which is arguably superior
7 3DS is better but PSX is still worth playing, same art style and graphics as 4-6 Mobile/DS
8 is objectively better on PS2 but the 3DS will have some new content
