Yeah looking into it more I'm actually not 100% sure now. As a kid I always pronounced giovani in pokemon "geo vani" and it's only because I read jojo that I learned more about italian pronunciation recently.

Except that's wrong, Giovani is pronunced Giovani. You just don't hear the i much when pronunced fast.
I think you'd put emphasis on the i in Giana, but maybe that's just me. If you say it fast you don't hear the i either.
