The problem is that surprises and hidden secrets don't sell games, hype does. People these days need to know 18 months in advance is a form of entertainment is worth their consumption, instead of just consuming it and finding out.

I went to a Smash tournament the other night, and halfway through the fucking sirens and silhouette happened.
Nobody had noticed the host hadn't unlocked ROB yet.
Everyone lost their shit, it was great.
