The use of the leaderboards isn't for fame among some small circle of who-gives-a-fuck people, it's to push people to compete, which drives them to perform better.

TAS runs are the pinnacle of speed gaming. They take the concepts to the extreme in an attempt to deliver an entertaining and informative end product. Your standard any% run is all about luck, and avoiding dozens of strategies because they aren't possible for humans.
