Right now it's Bloodborne, but it might face some competition from Yakuza 5.
Witcher 3 was very close to being my GoTY, but Blood and Wine isn't out yet.
I really, REALLY wanted MGSV to be my GoTY, but it was a weak finale to my favorite series. Story wasn't finished, there were some unnecessary missions toward the end, and multiplayer was only fun for week. I still play single player on and off for S ranks, though.

Frankly, I'll just go with the crowd and say MH4U.
I think it says a lot about the current game industry if a 3DS game managed to top everything else this year, or MH4U is just that good.
Disgaea 5.
50 hours in, just beat the main story and fully intend to keep playing. Gameplay is classic Disgaea with some neat new additions, and the cast and story were a ton of fun.
Just Cause 3 could potentially take the title from it though, as JC2 is one of my favourite games and 3 looks fantastic.

I refuse to consider a game GOTY if it's held back by hardware limitations, is cinematic, overly violently, or overtly pandering with fanservice. I used to be a sony fan, so when they burned me with the PS3, I came to despise everything they tried shoving in my face, from their dudebro shooters to their pretentious artsy cinematic visual novels, and even their weeb pandering games like Dragon's Crown did not win me over. So I've become a little more picky in my pickings.
Meanwhile, I've actually had a real blast with my PC lately. Strong games, indie games, older games, you name it. It's been quite an investment.

You should beat it anon, its only 5 hours or so, preferably pacifist so you dont have to beat it twice for both endings. I think part of the reason why people like it so much is cause the 2 endings are both so strong that it's easy to forgive he game most of its problems. Also it's a 10$ game, so judge it as a 10$ game. As for /v/, it's the same "can't like what everyone else likes" mentality as for any other popular game.

Bloodborne is my GOTY.
But I've enjoyed Witcher 3, Halo 5 and Fallout 4 as well.
I'm sure that I'd like Super Mario Maker, I'm going to buy it this holiday.
PSMD since it's one of the few games that did not disappoint me this year.
