A lot of complaints about Nier revolve around the combat not being fun enough, which is pretty valid. I personally loved it for its storytelling methods, so the combat was bearable to me. Just don't go in expecting acuhrazyaction game, and I think you'll be fine.

Fortress of Fear was the first time and only time that I got a game just because of its badass cover. It has grown on me somewhat but that is mostly nostalgia speaking. I was very disappointed back then.
