Which one is the best?
>>
Personally I liked Ripto's Rage the most, it was the comfiest of them all for me.
Might be a bit biased, since it was the first of the three that I played.

3 is great but I'm not fond of the secondary characters you get to play as
1 is pretty good but has down syndrome-tier bosses
Were there any Spyro games aside from the first three that weren't shit?
>>
I played 3 first so it kinda makes me a bit biased for it being my personal best. I played 1 last and I get a weird vibe from it. 2 is my least favourite I dont know why I just dont find it that enjoyable. Its the same with the original Ratchet and Clank Trilogy 2 is my least favourite.

Year of the Dragon is the best one.

The original is a solid base, and would be pretty fucking fantastic had it been standalone, but both of its sequels outclass it.
Ripto's Rage improved the game mechanically, it's basically perfect in that regard. However, it's also the shortest Spyro, with the least amount of content.

YotD basically took everything 2 did right, and did more of it. On top of this, they added new gameplay elements via a host of mini-games and five new playable characters to break the monotony that would certainly set in after two games of the same sort of game.

And in my opinion, YotD has the objectively best music.
And the best bosses.
And the most polished aesthetic.

Really, there's almost nothing wrong with it.

First one is best, just pure platforming without retarded gimmicks.
2 and 3 just added stupid minigames and boring missions

The GBA games were good

Except for Orange. That was an abortion.

And for the love of Christ, do not touch Shadow Legacy.

>roll these retarded stones to this hole 10 times

There is nothing wrong with simplicity in a platformer, look at Mario or Crash.
>>
>>316467875
Yes, look at Mario.

30 years later and it's become quite stale, because they're just doing the simple platformer thing.

Crash did the same thing Spyro did and it helped each game stand out from the others. And they're all enjoyable in their own right.

Trying to get those skill points from beating the 'Hi-scores' was a pain though

So uh, which minigame did you suck at, anon? What got you so butthurt?

And technically speaking, the flights in Spyro 1 were also mini-games. So it was always there.
>>
>>316468156
spyro 1 didnt go overboard with it, and flying was actually fun, spyro 2 introduced forced as fuck minigames that are just not fun
>>
Guys,
Would the PS2 titles not be shit with an acceptable framerate and responsive controls?

Yeah, but what are you actually talking about?

Which ones? All of them? What constitutes as a minigame to you? Was herding cowleks a minigame? Was flaming the cursed statues a minigame?

>>316468439
>>316468671
>>316468971
Gateway to Glimmer is a fucking stupid name. Glimmer is only relevant for as long as you're in that Realm. The portal which brings Spyro to Glimmer, even less relevant.

At least the Japanese title makes reference to the idea of visiting many different places, which does happen in the game.

Gateway to Glimmer is just fucking dumb.

1 had the best atomsphere and level design, and was generally the most fun, 2 had the better music, the quest minigames were hit and miss and a few levels were downright awful (robotica farms, zephyr come to mind). Spyro 3 was too busy and didn't seem to know what it was, more of a sandbox than a 3d platformer, some of the levels were pretty enjoyable.

Honestly I cannot remember a single noteworthy track aside from Colossus. Even 3 had more memorable music.
>>

That's literally why he's named Ripto.
