I don't think I was the only one to think "This format would be PERFECT for a Blame! game" the first time I saw Dark Souls. And I'm not even a a dark souls fan, it's just that the format seems to be absolutely perfectly fitting. Not an open world, but somewhat non-linear progression options, insanely beautiful vistas, cryptic storytelling, and incredibly cruel, lethal gameplay: This is the mechanical embodiment of Blame's atmosphere. Down to the option to invade other players.
The only thing that would really need to be changed is the core combat mechanics, since Blame does not land itself that well to all-out melee combat all the time.
