Of all the Final Fantasy representatives he's the most iconic individual, people actually know who he is.
Also they're remaking VII at the moment, I suspect we may see that on a future Nintendo console as Square/Enix and Nintendo seem to have a pretty solid budding relationship at the moment.
Only things we didn't already (officially) know about were:
-an HD remake
-DLC for games that are already out
-games that are already out in Japan that are coming West
So yeah, one of the worst directs ever. The Wii U and the 3DS are officially dead, they're obviously spreading remaining projects butter-thin and saving the good shit for the NX. I'm surprised they confirmed Zelda for 2016 since this solidifies NX for 2016 in the minds of any doubters
Dragon Quest was all I wanted out of Nintendo, since I knew SE wouldn't step up unless pressured, so I give it a 10/10. My condolences to those who had hopes and expectations for anything else though.

I don't care what anyone says, Cloud was HYPE if only because of how unexpected he was. Definitely excited for whatever comes in December as well, I don't even care who gets in.
All in all, I don't consider my standards terribly high, but even I realized that I was totally bored and that I was just watching a direct almost full of filler. However, there was enough cool stuff in there to make it worth watching. Really hope that Nintendo is just throwing stuff at us to sate us until going for broke with the NX; they seem to have a few tricks up their sleeve, so perhaps that is the case.

I can't believe people don't realize what a complete and utter commercial failure the Wii U is simply because they bought one. I bought a Dreamcast, and I loved it. It doesn't mean anything besides the fact that I loved it. It failed miserably as a business venture. I bought a Wii U for that matter and it also changes nothing. Hope and love are for Disney movies. The reality is that Nintendo is a business and the Wii U is not something that they can just run with. They have to replace it or they will become irrelevant as a brand name.
You could say, "but handhelds! surely the 3DS will save the Nintendo brand", but the answer there is also no. The 3DS might be performing far better than the Wii U but it has reached saturation levels 2 years too early in Japan and nearly 3 years too early in the States, a predicament the New 3DS was unable to rectify. The 3DS will undoubtedly become Nintendo's worst selling handheld, unless you want to count the Virtual Boy.
Nintendo needs a new product that will recapture a semblance of an audience it once had, and it can't do that with the 3DS and Wii U. Those products are over due to consumer apathy alone.

All those games you mentioned but TP we knew about, are out (some just in japan) and you can watch gameplay of it there whenever you want. That is what they filled the direct with, shit we knew about and DLC
TP HD doesn't even look good, it looks like a Wii game with extra bloom. Again we are at the point where nintendo's biggest announcements are DLC

TP had a lot of bloom in the original, this isn't a WWHD situation where they added it. Part of it was the stupid blur filter the original had which the HD version removed.
