What are your thoughts? I don't like the fact that there are 3 different FE games but $80 for three games doesn't seem that bad of a price. What I'm really hype for is SFZ, game looks faster paced than what was revealed which is one of my complaints from its first reveal. It's shaping up pretty nice.
Shame Cloud got released for the shittiest Smash game yet though.

I kinda missed a good portion of it because my internet is shit. It was pretty shit until they annoucend that DQ was getting localized. I want to get into this series and I'm glad SQ is starting to make good decisions lately.
Cloud saved that whole mediocre fest, holy shit, I'm still shocked.

I wasn't on board with AC Amiibo festival, but I think I'll give it a shot now, It looks pretty fun. Star fox zero looks awesome and I'm pretty happy about Pokemon red, blue and yellow coming to the e-shop, I just wish they would release them a lot sooner than February.

As a sony pony who idorts nintendo stuff this was both a good and bad direct.
The good for me was mainly and if not entirely the games, zelda u, twilight princess if it looks any good, bravely second, Final Fantasy explorers, dq 8 and 7.
the bad stuff was all the money making tactics
forced buneled amibo with twilight hd, more physical dlc bullshit, FE being sold as 3 games, more dlc and more ammibo, pokken nambo fighting game spin off bullshit, no mentioning of an actual pokemon game etc etc

FAST Racing Neo looks like the wipeout I've been craving AND it's got splitscreen oh man I'm hyped.
Star Fox looks great and I'm really excited, it looks much faster than it did previously, and the motion control aspect, if it has good sensitivity, will be great I think.
I'm excited about Fates, since import bros claim it improved on Awakening's gameplay a ton, and if it's actually good, then I get three full routes to play through and I'm totally okay with basically 3 games for 80 dollars.
Pokken looks like it'll be another fun game to throw into the rotation with friends on weekends.
Those are the big pluses for me. Everything else was meh or worse.

Just gonna say World of Final Fantasy should be a 3DS game and Explorers should have been a Vita game, both games are on the wrong platforms but you can't blame square for taking advantage of cheaper development costs as both games within that context adhere correctly to their install bases, idorts who care about graphical fidelity and gameplay are the only ones who truly loose on this.
The good part of this direct, at least for me is mainly and if not entirely about the games, Zelda U and it being confirmed as a wiiU game, Twilight Princess (if it ends up looking half decent), Bravely Second mention, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy explorers, DQ 8 and 7.
The bad stuff:
Forced amiibo bundle with twilight hd, FE being sold as 3 games, pokken namco fighting game spin off bullshit, no mentioning of the next actual Pokemon installment, eShop pokemon roms and more microtransaction and amiibo physical DLC.

I've played Hyrule Warriors already on Wii U (almost 100%), don't care for it on 3DS in the slightest, don't care for Gen 1 on 3DS, emulators and roms have existed for years now.

Cloud in Smash Bros is cool and all, but I haven't played FF7, and I still don't have Smash Bros, so for now, I don't really care.

There was mentioned of more changes other than amiibo. I don't remember the actual phrase, but rewatch it yourself for reconfirmation. My bet is on Hero Mode. Always a staple for Zelda Remakes sans Majora's Mask.

Isn't it getting the same treatment so far though?
For WW HD, they redid the lighting, updated textures, and fixed some gameplay bullshit.
For TP HD, the trailer at least showed they redid the lighting and updated textures. Surely fixing gameplay bullshit will come further down the release date.
The problem is that this works fine for WW but not for TP due to their styles. WW is all about it's textures and the low poly models fit them. TP is not, and its models are mostly hideous.

The characters are apparently gonna be released as DLC (at least KoRL and Tetra will be) but the story missions and challenges haven't had any sign of it yet. I hope they do though.
And the handheld thing COULD work. It fits the grindy nature of the game, and it may let things run a bit smoother in multiplayer if everyone's device is rendering it's own mobs, rather than having the Wii U try and distribute mobs across the map for it's multiplayer.

Fire Emblem Fates is essentially two games, it's more like Oracle of Seasons and Ages than it is Pokemon Blue and Red. Either way you're whining about "they would never stoop to it, is already proven false with that statement right there.
As for DLC garbage, most of the DLC for Nintendo games I've played has been great, MK8, Hyrule Warriors both spring to mind. All the DLC I've played for Splatoon has been free.

If you really want to complain, complain about a gold Megaman Amiibo which is retarded, or Animal Crossing having not one but two garbage games out, or the lack of interesting Wii U games into 2016. As of right now Nintendo said they are not talking about the NX until 2016. Maybe not until E3, or they possibly might do an NX direct like they did for WiiU ohsomany years ago. Now given that, when will the NX actually launch? Late 2016 or Late 2017? If it's a console it's going to have a holiday release. I think every Nintendo home console for the past 3 consoles, from what I recall, came out during or prior holiday season.
I think P4 will be a Wii U game releasing August next year. I can't help but feel that a lot of AAA Wii U games would be ported to NX though. I can definitely see Zelda U doing that since that's going to come late 2016 as Zelda usually does. I can also see Pikmin 4 doing that as well.
Being exclusive to NX would probably increase the parameters of the game visually and gameplay-wise, and speaking of which I'm more curious what new gameplay concepts it'll have rather than what system it'll be on.

Awakening had mountains of shitty DLC and some okay DLC, but the base game by itself was enough for me. This looks to be the case with Fates as well.
As to your greater good point, most people in this thread seems to agree that the overall direct was nothing more than average, which isn't exactly rousing approval. What do you want us to do? Grab pitchforks and storm Nintendo's headquarters? Rail against the system?
There was nothing in this direct that I absolutely sat back and just gaped at as being horrific. Amiibos are here to stay and I don't know how much I can change that besides never buying one.

I think the Cloud thing was most likely pushed by Squeenix. I mean it just makes sense, Nintendo obviously knows he's never been on a nintendo system, but Squeenix is very aware as his status as a favorite.
As to fates, the price of all three flat out wouldn't be $60, it would be $80. We got the exact same setup Japan got, with basically three fairly distinct games in one package for $80 being the best deal, the artbook and cover are just gravy.

When I said this I meant buying them for less than retail, we use a site where they are regularly 40-45 dollars which after conversion usually adds up to 60 dollars CAD which was how much the average used to be.
I think it was a solid Direct, there have been worse and better, but there wasn't much that I personally cared for.
DQ7 and 8 are really cool considering how much people want them but I've not got much interest in the series. Same with a lot of the other stuff.
The only things that I'd personally say I cared for (with the exception of Pokken and Star Fox dates/release windows) is Twilight Princess HD but that's only a maybe.
No real complaints though, other than the usual overabundance of amiibo shite.

I put 100 hours into Hyrule Warriors base game. The base game contains a standard single player campaign which is fairly lengthy in itself and one adventure map, and it's the most extensive one out of all 5 maps. Yet the 4 additional DLC maps are of varying sizes that vary the actual map mechanics a good bit. I mean the actual gameplay is still the same, but the Pass with maps includes all the characters that were introduced with the maps, so that's essentially a new way to play for each new character. I can't remember how many characters were part of the DLC at the moment.

DQ and Pokémon Picross were nice announcements, but Directs only really work for stuff like that, so the rest was pretty meh. They never give out information people might be interested in, like whether there's dual audio for Xenoblade Chronicles X or not.
