Remember back when we still thought we were going to get a mainline Animal Crossing game on the Wii U, and we had a ton of really nice Animal Crossing threads full of discussion?

What if in the next game instead of having a camp site as a public works project, you could make a hotel where up to 5 guests could stay at a time. The more you interact with them the higher they rate your hotel which causes more frequent visits from other animals. And of course with enough interaction you can convince an animal to permanently move to your town

What about an Animal Crossing game inspired by Yandere Simulator, where it feels like every other Animal Crossing game, and you play the role of a seemingly normal villager. When in actuality, your goal is not to create and design a home, but rather to marry Isabelle. You must keep this a secret and try your hardest to blend in with the other villagers so as to not blow your cover and ruin your chances with Isabelle. You will still be able to shop at Tom Nook's, get HRA points, etc.; the game will seem to be a standard Animal Crossing game, but in actuality all of your actions are simply to try to impress / attract Isabelle. There could also be some mechanic where you must compete with the mayor for her affection or something.

No worries anon. We can only hope they decide to do another drastic change like they did for new leaf. At least we know customization is definitely getting better.
Also side note I would like them to add in a tool belt of sorts. Like it would be a separate section of your inventory reserved just for tools like the axe, fishing rod etc. Totally sucks having those things take up space in your pockets or not having something available when an opportunity arrives.
They should bring the improved design mechanics from the spin off to the main series. I also think unique dialogue determined by a cross between the species and personality is a must. Even some minor unique phrases by villager. They need to be more diverse.
Another must is more special events and a bigger inventory. I would also welcome more stuff to catalog, could do with collecting a bigger variety of mushrooms or something.
Credit Card so we don't have to fill our pockets with bells
Money transfers so buying stuff from other players is easier
Some sort of online hub, similar to the island, but let us go to other player's towns and exchange FCs and shit
More advanced PWP and item placement(basically use the HHD playstyle. Honestly, HHD was probably just a testground for the upcoming mainline game)

I think that Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival were just payed tech demos for the new Animal Crossing on Wii U. HHD was to try out the new home designing features, and amiibo Festival is just they assets reskinned. This is a smart move on Nintendo because they make dosh off the brand name alone with minimal effort.

I doubt they'll ever bring back the NES games because muh VC, but it'd be nice if there was some sort of integration where the next game reads what VC games you have and if you get its "system" as a furniture system, you can access all your VC games through it. Then certain games, probably mostly NES, could have it so you can have a Villager as a CPU-controlled Player 2.

There's some good choices on there. But I'd also like to see more house/villager house exterior customization in the next console game. I want to be able to arrange picnics with my villagers, and go for hikes in the mountains, or trips in the forest and stuff.
Tropical island is nice and all, but there are so many more comfy options for people to visit and experience a varied wildlife.
Cooking would also be a nice inclusion in the game. Villagers could have favorite foods kind of like Tomodachi Life.

So how does HHD work? Do villagers move in and out just like in the regular games, with the exception of Amiibo/Amiibo Card ones?
How much can you interact with them once you build their houses?

Once you work with a villager, you can visit them whenever. And even before then they can start to appear in facilities and main street. Cards are needed for characters like Isabelle and Digby, otherwise they just let you get villagers quicker and also permanently assign them to facilities. Like I have it so Willow is always the doctor in my hospital.
After you work with them, you can go to their house to chat, see them mess around with furniture like they'll actually play instruments you put in their homes, dress them up, and chat with them in the facilities as usual.

What they could probably do is just ditch the villager archetypes and just sort of randomize the dialogue within small groups of villagers. To them, it would be like a tag system where each line of dialogue would belong to certain tag groups and not others, and every villager was identified by a number of tags. I have bought many of them. All of them were inferior to HM on PS1 and 64.
After a half dozen attempts, you just have to give up. Just like Im giving up on Animal Crossing which has made the smallest improvements of any series I followed. Even less than Pokemon.
