Something like a gambeson or mail don't restrict movement range at all (you of course have to move extra weight, though). Same deal with plate armor pieces like cuirass (you can't bend where your ribcage is).

To be fair, plate cuirass is a combination of coat of plates/brigandine (smaller metal plates riveted inside a leather or fabric garment, there has never been any of this "studded leather" garbage, rivets are there to hold metal plates, not for protection or decoration) and leather "cuirasses" (I think the word cuirass actually comes from French word from leather, cuir) that supplemented mail as a RIGID defence before metallurgy advanced enough to make a single shaped breastplate.
So yes, there has been leather cuirasses, but they were worn in conjunction with mail and were rendered obsolete by plate (due to being just as heavy and rigid, although it's not like it matters because cuirass only covers the ribcage and you can't bend there). And there has never been anything like what that "studded leather" armor is.

This always happens. Whenever blizzard downgrades a character, more specifically a female character, you can't go to somewhere like reddit or the mmo-champion forums and expect to see people having a decent discussion or anyone actually bring up valid points.

Sylvanas is a fast paced hit and run type archer, that's her combat style and has been since she was a ranger general. She wears lightweight armor to compliment her fighting style, she needs to be mobile and agile, putting a full set of plate armor on a character like this is so beyond retarded i cannot even begin to understand how people who CREATED the character doesn't get this.
Not to mention Sylvanas is a vain bitch, she likes to show off skin. She knows she is beautiful and likes people to know it. In life, she loved dolling herself up to make people want her more. She was always like this, it's not exactly hard to imagine that this is still the case and wants to show off skin to show she's still attractive. If anything she probably wants to do it more than in life, to prove that even as an undead she's still gorgeous.
Last of all, her skin is pretty resilient, i can't remember how strong it is exactly but i think it was compared to really tough leather or something like that. Putting on heavy armor which completely negates her combat style while not even needing the protection is just baffling.

Now, that's very late plate armor and probably made for some king or prince or someone fabulously rich who could afford the best of the best, but the same goes for earlier plate armor as well. They just didn't have metal plates covering the armpits and such like and they were instead covered with mail (with padding underneath), originally as a full hauberk and when backplates started being introduced, possibly as sleeves/skirts/other necessary bits only.
The primary handicap is not mobility (which is barely restricted at all) but tiring faster because you have to move more weight (15kg-25kg or so depending on the era and use, early plate armor was on the heavier side of things as it couldn't be made as thin while later on it started getting thicker again to combat firearms, jousting armor might have been as heavy as 40kg but that was never intended for combat) around.
