ITT Casual Filters
>>315798142
Cerberus is the casual filter.
>>315798142
you first OP
Deus Ex, Liberty Island.
The village in RE4.
She's invincible
>>315798634
The village is fine.
The castle is where the shit ramps up.
LOOKING FOR BAAL?
Honestly the reaper at the very beginning is casual filter. By the time you get to Agni & Rudra you've already proven you can handle them.
>>315798618
u dumb and that picture is dumb
Just forward and do a fireball
but goddamn ppl still cant even do a fireball
>>315798634
what about RE4 isn't casual?
even ashley's outfit is casual
>>315798618
This is accurate on two levels
1) New players have trouble with DP motions
2) Casuals think DPs are OP, because they can't punish for shit
All aboard the pain train
Dungeons of Doom in Nethack.
<Gate of Hell>
>>315798898
Not him, but I had more trouble with the initial village swarm (especially the chainsaw guy) and the attack on the house when Luis is with you than I did with anything in the Castle. Of course, the castle does have THAT room...
>>315798953
>be summoner necro
>enter that tomb
haha, time for running!
>>315799546
>Duriel is literally so fucking tough that the only strategy which exists to kill him as Necro involves dying multiple times
FUCKIN HELL
>>315798953
well, this was also a potato filter
Remember, on older PC's, earlier versions of the game sometimes loaded so slow that before it even loaded on your screen, Duriel would've already smacked your arse
>>315799040
I'm so glad that I'll never have to use a multimeter again.
>>315798378
Cerberus was easy as fuck, beat him on first try with no prior knowledge to DMC games
>>315800003
On that note, he was also one of the bosses that restricted kiting thus really beign a build filter and a money drain more than a casual filter.
It was borderline impossible to run from this faggot. He does his dash attack on you once and then you are just locked in his fuckign holy frost.
Also, why in the ever flipping fuck does Duriel have Holy Frost. Why does the lord of pain use an attack which by its nature makes people numb.
It doesn't make any fucking sense.
WHY DID ANDARIEL USE POISON INSTEAD OF MIND MAGIC. FUCK YOU BLIZZARD!!
Obligatory.
>>315800198
The entire level itself is a casual filter but this motherfucker is the cherry on top
le filters maymay
>>315801115
That one bonus mission where you have to fight three Shadows in a cramped area is harder than anything DMC3/4 has to offer.
kanji
>>315799053
I dunno man.
I beat the reaper and Cerberus fairly easily, but Agni and Rudra were the ones that kept pushing my shit in.
>>315800586
This mission is when I thought the game would become real fucking hard, but no, I beat it in one try (with some heavy casualties at the end) but it was easier than I initally thought it would be, meanwhile the fucking solo mission in the woods where you have to kind of sneak through it or you can get killed in half a move. HOLY FUCK WAS IT ANNOYING, also because of that mission I learend that you can save mid-mission.
>>315799963
or you could just use portals to go in and out until he dies.
>>315799213
Holy shit, is this fucking G-Police?
>>315801972
Yes
It's a gold mine for enraging levels
>>315801825
That's not strategy that's being a puss puss.
>>315798812
i'm pretty sure that boss was rigged to kill you the first time no matter what. and as you keep dying it stops using the aoe spells as much
>>315800149
Yeah, by cheesing him with pistols you fuck.
HAHAHAHAAA!
>>315798142
one of the worst/annoying bosses ever. prove me wrong.
pic related
>>315801220
I've always felt that DMC lost something after the first one. Enemies in DMC had certain weaknesses that you could take note of and exploit with the correct weapon. Later games just had you beat up everyone with any weapon.
>>315803147
You and OP have picked the easiest bosses in the game. I call bait but you made me reply anyway.
>>315803346
I wasn't saying the flying guy was hard. I was saying he's annoying and just a plain bad boss. He was definitely the easiest.
>>315803346
>Agni and Rudra
>Easy
Are you kidding? Once you're good at the game, they aren't hard sure, but if you're saying you fought them once and they werte a breeze before you were good at the game and you weren't on easy(automatic) you're an autistic lying faggot.
>>315803489
>I wasn't saying the flying guy was hard.
Well then anon you may have missed the point of the thread
>>315803147
Turns out, you just boringly spam Cerberus.
No interesting shit with E&I or Rebellion or Coyote-A, even, just deflect orbs using the weapon you just got.
It's just disappointing.
>>315798554
God, that took me so many tries as a kid
Then again i didn't play very well
>DO NOT PURSUE
>they pursue
>LU BU IS OP WTF
Every time
>>315803689
Fuck this retarded boss, I've died at least 15 times, also both Witcher 1 and 2 both get progressively easier the more you play, unless you just rush through the game blindly and don't do any side quests.
>>315803553
Difficulty is subjective. What is hard for you may not be hard for others. I personally can see WHY they would be hard since you're fighting two guys at once but I personally did not have much difficulty with them as I quickly discovered you could dodge most of their attacks by jumping followed by Helm Breaker to land some damage on one of them. This was on NA Normal.
>>315803553
But by that point I was good at the game. They were a cake walk compared to Cerberus. Most of the time they just stand around asking to be hit and all you have to do is dodge their obvious attacks. It heats up when they combine but not much. Pretty sure I did it first time back when I first played it 9 years ago.
>>315798142
>>315798378
Yeah no Agni and Rudra were the end all be all casual filter OP is right. If you manage to squeeze by the first 3 bosses just barely, A&R were there waiting to teach you how to really play the game.
>>315803553
They're easy unless you're one of the people who tried to be cool and use trickster instead of swordmaster.
They don't do THAT much damage compared to other bosses
>>315804052
>A&R were there waiting to teach you how to really play the game.
Jumping when in danger and mashing one button? Because that's all it takes.
>>315798142
>NOT FUCKING CERBERUS
That fucker killed me about 25 times until I learnt to play properlywatching youtube videos.
>>315803489
I would argue he's a really fun boss. Nothing better than jumping on his back and fucking him before he can enter the next tunnel.
>>315804050
Whoa, you thought Cerberus was harder? I beat Cerberus in one try. To each his own I suppose.
>>315804096
I remember having to actually get better at the game to manage them, and yeah, I was using sword master I think.
>>315804206
>>315804096
>>315803957
I'm not sure if you guys understand what casual filter means. There are ways to beat them that make them much easier, but the point is that you cannot play the game casually when fighting them. You have to get good at the game, or learn some other tactics, and then you can fuck them up. By definition, this makes them casual filters, right?
this part requires you to partically master the swinging

Every time I fight him I take the drunk fighting ability then get smashed so he can't stunlock me.
>>315804461
>but the point is that you cannot play the game casually when fighting them
Of course you can, especially considering that the game has healing items.
>>315804206
Hahaha yeah okay
Almost didn't finish the game because of this goddamn fight.
>>315798378
this to be quite honest with you family
>>315804781
I used to work at a gamestop. There was this one guy there, a few years older than me, who was the definition of a hipster at the time, before it really blew up like it has now and every 20 something is one.
He liked Dark Souls. and would swear up and down that it was EASY because he had played it for hours and was good at it. Figured out it's ins and outs, timing for boss and enemy attacks, level design cheapshots, etc.
He could never admit that because he learned the game, and got good at it, it did by no accounts mean the game was an easy game. This must be a form of autism, and it frustrated me all the time.
Marco, is that you?
>>315804927
Dragon Quest? moar liek Grind Quest, amirite?
>>315804461
First time through Cerberus was harder because you only have pistols and Rebellion with very few healing items. Not to mention he's the first boss that appears at the end of a stage so if you die you have to go through lesser demons again to get to him. Therefore getting practice so as to beat him.
>>315804656

>>315804946

>>315804461
sadly, dsp has proven that wrong, he will find a way to be bad at a game and still win it. it's actually kinda impressive
I've heard you pushed the shit inside out from the other bosses, let's turn the tables on the penultimate stage.
literally impossible without co op
>>315800198Fucked me up good son, had to get my uncle to beat it for me.
>>315798763
Is HotS any good? I hate moba's, but the game is free and I am bored.
>>315800149
on normal right?
>>315809860

>>315805671

>>315810053
FUCK those penguins
>>315800586
kek i actually stopped playing vc after this mission
>>315798634
>>315798898
>>315799380
Initial village is hard, especially when you don't know the Chainsaw triggers, but the Water Room is easily the true casual filter, shit killed my first run and i had to restart to have enough gear/skill to get through.
>>315810161
>manages to be even more braindead and slower than LoL
So perfect game for like 99% of /v/
As a child, this boss destroyed me! I couldn't get that I had to HEAL the fucker!
>>315798142
The main challenge is that the camera is far more fucked in that room than any other, swear you don't have any control over it
>>315803180
3 still had type weaknesses
>Light-beast Beowulf hits shit from Vergil's Dark-based katana
>Dark-based Nevan is super weak to Light-based Beowulf
>Fire/Wind based A&R does crazy damage/armor breaking on the Arachnids
It's not as overt as 1's "Shadows know how to dodge swords/punches but not bullets" maybe for the worse, but it's still there. 4 has nothing though iirc.
>>315800586
First try, no losses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je1J4TxldPY
>>315798378
Truth.
Took me months tk beat Cerberus (in part because I stopped playing for other games), and after I beat Cerberus, the rest of the game was not that hard actually.
>>315811335
I really need to purchase Vanquish sometime.
I really can't beat DMC's third Nelo Angelo fight. The one in the big room with the stairs? He's not bullshit or anything, it's a fun as fuck fight but I don't have the skull to keep up with him.
Any tips perhaps?
>>315803553
Using Cerberus's revolver skill you can parry their attacks temporarily stunning them. While one is stunned concentrate on the other. Keep juggling between stunning one and hitting the other.
I actually beat them on my first try.
>>315811874
Nelo Angelo is a cunt. He's like the only part of DMC that's actually hard and holy FUCK is he hard.
I only played DMC once so I don't remember that fight, but is there something you aren't trying? Like a different weapon?
>>315812196
It has been a few months. I think I just got some sword slashes in when there was an opportunity, otherwise just dodged around and shot at him for a little chip damage.
>>315803553
I played on Normal my first playthrough and beat Agni and Rudra in at most two tries.
>>315811874
Ifrit + Kick 13 + Rolling Blaze and the Grenadegun are your friends
It was really satisfying putting her in the smelter.
>>315812490
>tfw fighting him for the first time
>forgot music box in my items
>navigate the menu and equip it while avoiding all damage
I didn't beat him, but I was just speeding through the game at a friend's house anyway.
Pretty fucking hype moment though
>>315798763
>invincible
>can see her coming from a mile away with that shitty low budget scifi "camo cloak"
>she has no escape tools apart from a shitty decoy that no one apart from literal mongoloids fall for
Agni and Rudra were much easier than both Cerberus and Beowulf.
I beat A&R on my first try and all I did was just stay in a corner and spam the gun and spin attack to keep myself afloat.
"unfortunately times up baby!"
"awwwww!"
The first vanguard and Cerberus felt harder to me than Agni & Rudra.
>>315802354
I bro-oped this game with a friend that had finished it before-hand and he finished this fight no problem while I was dying like a little bitch at the exact same time
>>315806124
Strength is much harder though
Didn't help that all hard mode does is bloat HP
>>315813695
If you can pull the trigger fast not so much, replayed it a few minutes ago and Strenght did me damage only with that shitty jump while he covers his face, on the other side, magician does that 360 spin while charging at you making it hard to hit his weak points, final boss was piss easy.
>>315800198
alma is more of a casual filter
>>315798634
The entirety of RE4 is casual. There's no filter at all.
>>315800272
I don't remember it being that difficult, I'd say lagerfeld instead, people don't understand that you have to attack him from behind

lol i fought them like a month ago to see how the game ran on my laptop and they gave me a run for my money ....best gays in all of vidya
I knew many people who gave up here on the first fight.
I'm still pissed someone stole my fucking copy, but left the Bayonetta 1 disc.

>>315811335

part of why Silent Hill is so based is that faggot slender/FNaF horror fans can't touch it.
>>315798812
>think there was some hidden method to this fight
>No, it's just a monster that shits out way more damage than literally anything you've met at that point
>Every boss is like this; nothing special besides lots of HP and stupid high damage compared to the area they're in.
I do kind of enjoy the game, but fuck those bosses. They're not fun, and they're not tests of player skills. They're basically out of depth monsters.
>>315812696
>First time
>Knowing music box trick

I found DeS to be the easiest in the series by far, and flamelurker fucked me up proper. I beat maneaters and false allant first try, but flamelurker pushed my shit in.
Undertale is overrated garbage that is shilled by fags.
>>315812490
I found him easier than the Cleric Beast. He took me 2 tries while the Cleric Beast took me 4.
Agni & Rudra are especially difficult in the original edition of DMC3. In the Special Edition, they lowered the difficulty, added gold orbs, and it was a lot of easier to fight them.
But in OG DMC3, you fight them at the end of a really long chapter, you only have yellow orbs so if you die once or twice you have to start over from the beginning of the level, they're a lot faster, have more HPs, and your Dante has barely any health or abilities since it's one of the first levels in the games.
>>315815194
Just set a ton of mines and have him run into them. Not like they're used for anything else.
>>315798142
Angus and Rubric was such a dank boss fight. I want to fight them irl and then feel what it's like to fart thru their butt.
>>315817769

>>315817840
Og DMC3 in general was sicknasty ill when it came to difficulty. That shit was Souls before Souls was a thing.

>>315818014
Is there any difference between OG DMC3 and SE on very hard?
>>315817469

>>315816923
it's a classic RPG, hard to not know how to play it
the only thing is timing rings for physical attacks
>>315817586
The whip is actually really good for that part of the game, in fact, it excels at killing fodder enemies because of it's long range. The only time it doesn't shine is during bosses, but that's what the parry mechanic is for.
>>315812490
I really wonder now how people found him difficult, I found him easier than the Cleric beast by far. Only took one go, and I didn't even have the music box. Not trying to brag, I'm seriously confused here.
>>315818171
>Getting Perfects on the rings raises your damage by around 5 to 20 points of damage
>Otherwise getting Goods work just fine for activating elements and status effects
Interesting mechanic but ultimately worthless.
>>315805068
Fuck this
>>315818236

Bitch ass whip usin nigga.
>>315818236
Yeah, I ran with the cleaver, then saw spear, then stake driver for my first quality run, and had a real hard time when I started a new save for a skill run with the cane. Definitely have to rely on range, stuns, and parrying a lot more.Although I will say that there is nothing funnier than hate mail from failed invaders when I just R1 spam them with the stake driver in the frontier, calling me a noob for using my weapons biggest strengths, damage and speed in close range.
>>315811335
I couldn't even pretend to be that good.
>>315818014
Lots of people returned the game to the store, or had to grind just to get past Cerberus. It was harder than Souls.
>>315818096
OG DMC3 doesn't have a "Very Hard" difficulty setting. It's called "Hard".
They switched up all the difficulty settings, so the Easy difficulty in OG DMC3 is like the Normal difficulty in SE, the Normal diffculty in OG DMC3 is like the Hard difficulty in SE, the Hard difficulty in OG is called "Very Hard" in SE, etc.
Other than that, there's the fact that you can use Gold Orbs to get unlimited continues and be able to revive yourself on the spot, and some slight differences like the fact that Jum Cancelling is easier to do.
>>315814886
Fuck most of this game other than Vashyron's dance.

I am having fun with it. It's pretty dumb and casual but not a massive asspain and the community is not nearly as bad as LoL's. Good for playing a few matches when you have nothing better to do.

That was a GOOD thing since it meant that you could just use whatever you wanted. And 3 still had lots of type-based weaknesses that >>315811268 didn't even cover iirc, like Agni & Rudra doing more damage to Cerberus.
>>315820579
I beat 3 on HoH, DMD and Very Hard (On PC) while using half of a logitec controller and the other half of my keboard. For some reason, my keyboard didn't register attacks and my controller didn't register movement so I used both. Spent an entire summer playing it that way.
>>315811251
I never found this guy hard, even when I was playing through at a stupidly low level and didn't know about the heal trick. IIRC I got the the Nebelheim reactor spider at level 21, and that was the first boss I couldn't beat.
>>315822723
There's a shit ton
>A&R on Cerberus
>Cerberus on Gigapede
>Yamato on Fallen Angels

I one-shot the tank boss, only to find out later online that everyone else had a problem with it.
I don't even have an RTS or strategy background.
Maybe RNG was on my side that day, but I've probably only failed one main story mission in Valkyria Chronicles.
>>315799193

Maybe Monsoon from MGR.

Yeah, I had no idea Yamato was dark-based though
2nd time playing VC2 (got the undub this time) and I really got into it. And then I ran into this asshole in the April mission. RQ'd the game for months before I finally got past him. And the only reason I beat him was thanks to getting lucky from intercept fire AFTER he killed off Selvaria.
The August mission was also pretty fucking annoying with all those goddamn V2 everywhere.
>>315829949
Not harder than most other places unless you're going for some personal run
>>315829364
You likely RNG'd it out.
That was one of those missions where you had to do things in a very specific manner or you would get blown the fuck out, but if you did, it's really easy.

I never see this one mentioned, but Stage 6 of Resident Evil: Revelation's Raid Mode, possibly that part in the campaign as well.
But going through Stage 6 for the first time will probably be pretty damn tough since you basically have to deal with a shitton of enemies, plus an incredibly resilient tougher version of a boss from the campaign mode. If you go in with shit weapons, which is pretty damn likely since you're just starting out, or solo, you might have a really hard time.
Raid Mode isn't even hard up to that point. All of a sudden, it just gets really brutal. The next two stages after that as well, on every difficulty.
>>315829817
It's not hard to not pick it up considering there's only 2, tops 3 type advantages (Beowulf & Fallen Angels) considering most of the enemies are demons.
>>315829949
this is the real casual filter.
Even the tutorial level on this fucker where you aren't even racing anyone kicks your ass.

>>315798378
I came here just to post this.
If A&R gave you problems then you wasn't playing properly at ALL since you should know how to do the basic shit by then. Cerebus played like a normal boss and had high HP right at the start.
It took me like 10 tries while A&R I beat the first time although i did use an item.
>>315829949
I had a much harder time with the fortress in Mission 10. That place is a bitch and a half to sneak through

That Grand Prix level with Black Shadow was downright fucking impossible though

>If A&R gave you problems then you wasn't playing properly
Play the original edition of DMC3, Dante's Awakening, instead of the Special Edition. Good luck, you'll see that they're pretty much as hard as Cerberus, or even harder, especially since it's at the tail end of a long mission, and if you use the yellow orb system, you have to start over from the beginning if you die.
>>315831318
The only bosses in the game I found harder than Agni and Rudra are the final two. They were the big stumbling block I had on every difficulty.
I killed Cerberus on my second attempt during my first run through the game and had no issue with it on the higher difficulties.

>>315832991
>The original made it that much harder?
In the original version, the Normal difficulty setting is the same as the Hard difficulty setting in the Special Edition.
So you start with a clean Dante, no health upgrades, no nothing, and you have to beat essentially what's the Hard mode of the game, and the original DMC3 doesn't have gold orbs, so you can't keep using continues. Cerberus and A&R are hard as fuck, especially if it's your first time playing the game.
Boy if these weren't the best placed enemies in this game
>>315832746
>>315832746
>shes still unfun as fuck to solo
This is how I feel about a lot of the G rank content in 4U. When using the majority of weapons, the fights aren't very fun. CB and IG are the most fun and it feels like G rank was made with them in mind imo.

Phantom is gets to be a filter twice. The first time is when you first play the game and don't know you can just DT and blow him up. The second time is on DMD, when that strategy falls to pieces and you actually have to play well to win.
All this talk of DMC1 has me pissed because I remember I couldnt beat the starfox mundus part.
Had no real problems in the game except for one of the nelo angelo fights and the gryphon fight on the boat

Was just about to post this. This dude was the loud 'n clear message that Ninja Gaiden would hand me my ass many times before it was through. Loved every minute of it.
>>315811874
I love all the Nelo Angelo fights in DMC. They have a lot of cool little touches, like how you can deflect his sword strokes with the proper timing to create openings, and reflect his blue fireballs back at him.
The third fight is a pretty tough one. If you're using Alastor, I would suggest giving Ifrit or Sparda a try instead (assuming you aren't playing on normal and have Sparda already). Sparda does a whole lot more damage per hit and Ifrit is better at creating and exploiting openings against Nelo Angelo.
>>315834460
These along with Tom & Jerry are the two most overrated things in Dark Souls. Capra's not too bad either as long as you aren't slow as hell. You just keep running across and kill the archer face to face, I beat Biggie & Smalls on my second try just as a test run to see what moves they had, and I'm not that good of a player. It didn't stop the fight from being fun as hell though. Ironically, the easier boss fights in Dark Souls are the best.
If anything in that game is a filter it's either Kalameet or Four Kings
>>315836582
Yeah, if you use Alastor DT you can beat him pretty easily. You essentially tank his hits and kill him before he can kill you. This works until DMD, at which point he'll fuck you up before you even dent him.
>>315835685
Yeah tomb of the giants is a better example, given that usually people first encounter it right after beating Pinwheel, a super low level enemy. The only real way to go through this place is to wing it using prior knowledge or to use the sunlight maggot (skull lantern is not recommended, ever). Therefore, a lot of people would give up at this point seeing it as the most logical progression point, rather than backtracking all the way back to firelink.
Also a typical shield stops the damage but not the knockback? Can't confirm for a greatshield but my grass crest shield didn't do anything. That pic was one of the first I found in image search.
>>315837225
Oh, I'd been doing that the whole time.
>>315837149
>Four Kings
>Hard
Ever heard of Havel's armor?
Kalameet is hard but is totally optional and pretty late game so not what i'd consider a casual filter as most casuals would have stopped playing by then or just go around it.
Bed of Chaos would have been a great casual filter if it reset every time.
>aero3Yeah I know he's easy if you don't immediately go to wutai.

Oh, that's easy. You have to position Mario so that he lines up with a crease in the level border off the side of the platform. If you don't line it up right, King Bob-Omb will throw you off the mountain and you'll have to try it again, but if you do line it up just perfectly, King Bob-Omb will shoutI'M GONNA WRECK ITand throw you extra hard right at the crease in the level border. This will make you break through the outer wall of the level and smash through a portrait in Princess Toadstool's bedroom where you get to read her diary about the time she and Mario had sex, and how Bowser made her get an abortion and Mario had to console her, so she made him a cake after she got over it. That was originally supposed to be the plot of Super Mario World 3, but it was scrapped after Miyamoto got threatened by the Yakuza because Miyamoto did this to the Japanese Godfather's daughter.
Did I mention it's a video diary with a hidden unlockable sex scene?

I fucking love the Agni & Rudra boss fight.
There isn't really anything quite like it in action games.
This is a very rare example of a dual boss fight in an action game where the bosses had SYNERGY with one another. They had chemistry in how they behaved.
It's not like some other boss fights (such as pic related from Demon's Souls) where it is basically just two enemies put in a room together that you have to fight together that don't actually have any synergy or unique patterns when together.

>>315830647
Wrong, bruh. There's a type advantage for almost each weapon, with a visual tell for when you get it right:
Cerberus creates larger ice crystals when triggering a weakness. It's noticeable with Geryon, Agni, Nevan, and the Gigapede.
Agni & Rudra are actually dual typed, fire and nonelemental. The tell here is a bigger burst of flames. The Gigapede is weak to fire, as well as bloodgoyles, cerberus, and some others.
Beowulf uses holy, and the Hell Vanguard, Doppelganger, and many others are weak to it, triggering a bigger flash of light when hits connect.
Nevan triggers a bigger electrical effect, and Bloodgoyles and Rudra get wrecked by it.
Yamato will fuck up the fallen and Beowulf really quickly with dark element. Its effect is a bigger purple/black effect similar to Beowulf's.
Reb, Force Edge, and the guns (although I forget if Artemis has an element) are non-elemental.
This isn't a complete list, since it's been forever since I played (and all the shit in leviathan is weak to ice, I think?) but there's way more element typing than is readily apparent in a regular playthrough.

I often have to try to prevent him from getting stuck in a corner by trying my damn best to keep him away from those areas.
But I guess you CAN call him a casual filter, since his difficulty is objectively higher than the other bosses in the game, even though in the grand scheme of the SoulsBorne games, he is actually very simple and easy.
