Set items made normal legendaries weak by comparison because of damage. Now we may finally be able to build around normal legendaries again as long as we have that ring set. With all of the legendary powers, it would probably be even more powerful than equipping a full set. 8 or 9 times 800% is more damage than any set bonus, I think.

I think the problem is that everyone just want to be super efficient which kills the creativity on these types of games. Also I'm pretty sure if d2 had timed runs and dungeons that guarantee loot the same thing would happen. Everyone in d2 started leaning towards certain builds and those are the builds you saw 90% when they introduced ubers. But yeah efficiency l, farming etc etc

It's decent. On first playthrough, it's going to seem like there are so many build options, and so much in the way of customization.
But all of that customization is moot come endgame, where only a handful of builds are viable.
The graphics are shit, but the art style is actually bretty gud.
Overall I'd recommend it if it won't be your first arpg rodeo. If you know what you're getting into, you'll probably enjoy it.
Just don't expect it to blow you away or anything.

It can be a bit slow early before a build really works, but so was Diablo 2 if you played solo/without a rush.
I'd say personal preference is a big part of it, though. It's also not p2w, but you do have to pay for more storage beyond the first four stash tabs. If you just play a little it won't be a problem, but if you're gonna sink a lot of time into it, yeah you'll probably need more.

My biggest problem with Grim Dawn was that the rng was fucking unforgiving, with regard to uniques/sets.
My first playthrough was soldier/shaman 2h lightning build. Out of the three dozen or so uniques I found, maybe 4 or 5 were actually usable for me, and only one was a weapon that fit my build.
Well, it would have fit my build... ten levels before it dropped. By the time I got it, I already had a green with nearly double the dps.
That aside, a few other issues, like balance going completely out the window in the last act, especially with aether, vitality, and chaos resistance.

Supposedly an update a while ago gave most of those abilities a team cooldown, meaning one member of the pack uses it, then it goes on cooldown for all of them.
From what I've seen, that's bullshit, and they can certainly spam it still.

They massively increased the middle and top tier unique drop rate, and now all skill gems can be bought from vendors. Hopefully the trend of making the game less grindy continues. Having uber rare items is great, but 1500 fusings on average to 6 link an item is bullshit when you might find 20-30 while leveling a character to 80.

I can't stand systems that are too reliant on RNG. I get that it's pretty much an inherent part of all arpgs, but fuck, I like to feel like my time invested in a game is being rewarded.
Nothing feels as shitty as totally plateauing around 65 and having to spend dozens of hours farming for good enough gear to progress.

I leveled a character on the hardcore league with a friend who was just starting, we hit cruel act 4 and he gets an Astramentis. I barely manage to contain my envy and explain to him his luck and the value of the item, he stashes it and we continue on.1 hour later he dies and uninstalls, the Astramentis still in his stash.
