Community.I come from a broke as fuck family that never taught me to stay focused in school (always was a C-D student / B-C in college), and wasn't a very loving household. I had some student tell me last semester that he needed to play games while in my lectures because he ADD or something. He was a skinny nerdy-looking kid and wore a bunch of game/nerdy printed T-shirts. He was supposed to go to the accessibility services and get proof of his need for special accommodations to play games in my class, but he kept "forgetting" to do it.
He at least had the decency to wear headphones, and considering he had no official need for accommodations I let him do so out of genuine kindness, but the data indicate that playing games or using any type of non-class-oriented technology can be highly distracting to students around the person using the technology, so I told him he had to sit in the back.
Of course, he's failing my class (a 100 level "easy A" media course of all things) and he comes to talk to me after class (though not during office hours) to say that he's not been able to learn because he has to sit in the back and then he can't hear with headphones on. This is like 90% of the way through the semester with only the final left so there's basically no way he can pass. I ended up getting an angry email from him mom because he failed.
Any time I've had a kid sit in one of my classes and play games (while I'm often fucking talking about video games) they always end up performing poorly. We have plenty of empirical data to back it up too.

I got my IT degree from a community college and have the same problems. I can't stress how important getting it experience on your resume is. Associates degree is worth less than a high school diploma if you don't have that experience to back it up. If programming is where you want to go is way different and you will need to practice debugging code and be able to show that work.

Most post secondary institutions in the West now does this. For a while now it's been mandatory for Engineers at the University I graduated from to take at least two half-credit humanities courses.
They say it's to help us write should we choose to pursue grad school. But most engineers just work out of grad where writing isn't required, but a lot of programming knowledge is. I wish they made us take more programming and logic courses instead.

To achieve accreditation though, you need to chuck in a couple of 'soft-skill' classes alongside your proper classes because there are always a few aspies who have no life skills whatsoever and need a lecturer to teach them some.
Case in point: I'm a Computer Systems Engineer, studying how to design and implement digital systems, on both the hardware and software side, yet I have to study on how to be a Manager as well otherwise I won't be accredited.
