Oh, another thing. Weather. Rain storms with reduced visibility. Lightning storms that kick up radioactive dust, slowly reducing your HP. The lightning strikes are massive rad spikes.
In this game rads are added to the end of your HP, slowly consuming it. There's not rad poisoning like before. No it just slowly devours your HP.

When it comes to misc items, like toasters and bottles, that can be used for things in crafting like Steel and Glass, can you dismantle them into their respective crafting component, or do you have to lug around a bunch of junk?

I've seen streams where people have easily picked up heavy things and then sprint with it. Picking up bodies in Fallout 4 is similar to Skyrim. One streamer sprinted with a shopping cart naked in the wastelands.

Watching the streams, I noticed the player had 12 cores on his inventory. With the Nuclear Physicist perk you can probably use it pretty often in the later game, but not much in the early game.

Well, laziness/saving time and money for other shit. Due to the weapon and armor crafting systems, actually placing all weapons in a way that doesn't clip horribly is probably decently time consuming.
That said, I still think it's bullshit and they should have gotten an intern to power through adding the holstered placements. I don't think I'll ever holster my weapons in the game, my autism flares up when a gun appears from or disappears into thin air. It's part of the reason I never use heavy weapons in Fallout games much.
