Yes, there is 3 danganronpas. One is a spinoff. 1-2-AE have bad endings and AE was a shit game. DR3 is not out yet but hopefully it gets back on track and has a better ending then the last 3 games.

But having shitty endings IS the track. That's 100% of the games that you say have shitty endings. If the new game has a good ending, it's not "back on track," it's on a new track, possibly at an entirely different station.
