I'm going to dump my SH-related stuff, starting with the guide to get them up and running on PC - recently updated!
Silent Hill Thread, my friends.
Walls incoming. 1920x1080p and up, first.
>>315557558
Whoops, looks like I renamed the wrong image (they look similar). Here's the REAL SH PC guide.

I have never played a silet hill game but I love collecting informative images
Have a bump as thanks
>>315558217
>>315558273
Thanks for the bump, anon.
Do you like horror games, or games with excellent atmosphere?
It's too bad almost every video game magazine is out of business these days.
>>315558585
Another.
>>315558456
Then only horror game I have played is Pathologic and I just started it today.I'm really enjoying it and I read somewhere it was inspired by Silent hill so I should try the series out soon
Where's the love for Silent Hill?
To the anon that helped me figure out how to mount ISO's for the first time. My thanks. You helped me a lot!
>>315558917
>I should try the series out soon
Definitely. 1-3 are genre leaders, 4 is cool and is the last game made by the real Silent Hill team. The others range from okay to absolutely terrible.
>>315558961
Glad you got it figured out, anon. I used to use Alcohol 120% back in the day, when I was too stupid to torrent. These days I think the best tool is WinCDEmu due to its insanely small size and no additional/unneeded features.
From the Making Of videos. Don't watch if you haven't played the game, obviously.

>>315559204
I'm very much in gaming for the experience, so I wasn't even the person that built my rig. It came with MagicISO installed, so that's what I used. The process was perhaps a bit more awkward than what others went through, but I got there eventually, and that's what counts.
>>315559520
I think a lot of people use MagicISO. That or Daemon Tools, but I wasn't a fan of that one in later releases when the software started phoning home and came with unneeded extras. I just want to mount, unmount, and that's it.
>>315559719
Dat pic
>>315559834
Here's one similar.
>>315559943
Ohhhh no no no, far too cluttered if you ask me.
>>315560054
Cluttered and low resolution, I agree, but I'll take it where I can get it when it comes to SH.
Silent Hill 2 story spoiler.
>>315560059
Also saved
>>315560187
I wish the games had some sort of camera mode. I love camera modes...
>>315560382
Like a screenshot mode? That'd be nice.
>>315560489
Exactly like a screenshot mode!
I usually take shots in Steam, then drop it into Photoshop and play with it. I'm farting about with one now actually.
>>315560387
Found a bigger version. My new desktop for sure, cheers anon
>>315560836
Nice! Deleted mine and saved yours.
>>315557558
The only Silent Hill games I've played are 2, 3, and 4. I liked all of them, but 3 was my favorite. The enemies in Silent Hill are great nightmare fuel, too.
>>315561384
You should definitely play the original. It emulates well, from what I hear. Or if you have a PS3 you can guy it through the PS store for <$10.
>>315560931
No sweat!
Here's the homecoming picture I played with in Photoshop to make it more "wallpapery"
>>315561586
Excellent. Saved.
>>315561480
I've been meaning to play it for a while, but never got around to it. I'll play it once I finish my backlog.
>>315561592
kek. Is this true or just pure coincidences?
>>315561953
I couldn't say with certainty, but the creators have said several times that they've taken cues from real locations as inspirations for the town/interior designs.
>>315561953
I've heard it was referential. No idea about legitimacy. I just know that the devs took real world locales as inspiration.
This one's perfect for the Photoshop wizard. The HD Collection is shit, but I like the cover art. Negative coming up next.
>>315562201
>>315562873
This game gets too much hate.
>>315562956
Yeah. It's my least favorite of the 4 originals, but it has its place. It's the Zelda II of the series.
>>315563106
That's actually a really good way of putting it.
>>315563216
This is cool. I just saw Akira Yamaoka for the first time a couple nights ago at a gig, weird to see him younger.
>>315563849
Is that in England? I read about him doing a tour. How was it?
>>315563954
It was really good. He had 3 other musicians and a singer as his band, they played for about 90 minutes, with cutscenes and gameplay from SH1 up to Homecoming projected behind them. Played most of the tracks you would imagine. The singer was really good, the drummer was amazing.
They also did a bit where each band member in turn played the kind of sound effects that are musical, if you know what I mean? Like, the bassist did a solo where he replicated the industrial booming noises, stuff like that.
And they broke the mandolin out for the actual Silent Hill theme. Akira spoke english for a few minutes a couple times and was really cool.
It was weird to see the Japanese bowing thing irl tho.
>>315564469
That sounds fucking awesome. I'd love to see that.
>>315564574
There's probably some shitty cellphone videos on youtube from the tour, I know I'm going to upload mine at some point. I imagine he'll go to other countries at some point if he did Britain, esp as it's a sell-out at every venue I think.
If he comes to the US somewhere nearby (Midwest), I'd be there for sure.

>mfw i kind of liked shattered memories for what it was and thought it was an interesting take on the series, albeit one that I wouldn't want to see repeated.

If I wanna into Silent Hill, where should I start? number 2? Also, playing on pc
>>315568665
Start from one and play them in order if you're looking for the Silent Hill experience.
If you're just looking for a good gaming experience, you can skip one and jump in at two.
Personally I prefer 3, it's overall aesthetic is janky as fuck. Valtiel creeps me out like you wouldn't believe.
>OP posting the same shit images
Kill yourself.
>>315569875
>Do better then
>>315569875
Would you like to contribute?
>>315559518
Wow I've only seen short 5 minute clips from these. I'll watch these later.
Thanks anon.
>>315570550
Different anon but I would.
Anyone else go to Silent Hill Live? Aside from the music from the shit games it was fucking great to see Yamoka play live
>>315561384
1st one is the scariest, IMO.
>mfw I find the FMVs terrifying even when there's nothing "scary" happening in them
>>315559518
This is a wise man.
1 = scariest
2 = best story and atmosphere
3 = most disturbing
>>315570864
If you pick up the PS2 special edition, you get a disk with these on it =]
How do you think Silent Hills would've been?
>>315572134
Disappointing.
>>315572134
Exceptional.
What would it be like to live in Silent Hill, would you even be aware of what's going on?
>>315572339
This.
MGS V is a good game but disappointing to old fans of the series. Silent Hills would be good but not what Silent Hill fans would want out of a game.
Got this today. Should be interesting.
>>315562956
I liked 4 until about halfway through whenthe apartment gets spooky.
That was my breaking point.
>>315574258
The apartment gave me and the missus legit creeps for a good while. Man, fuck that place.
>>315574509
It hit a particularly unnerving chord with me becauseI've lived in the room I live in now all my life barring my years in college, and it's basically my sanctuary. The idea of my safe place turning against me cut me way too deep.
I got the impression that was the point, though.
>>315574785
I honestly don't think there would be anything worse than your home becoming a hostile prison.
I'm not going to sleep well tonight...
>>315575106
So what do ya guys think the next Silent Hill will be that's not Hills or Pachinko?
>>315575108
SH4 achieved that concept better than any of the fucking hundred haunted house movies released in the past few years. Throughout the game, the apartment is your only refuge, your one place where you aren't being hounded by unkillable ghosts (seriously fuck those things right out too, I'm a scrounger, I need time to dig up hidden shit I can't be running from ghosts), and you get healed. You get a chance to cool down and relax.
And then shit starts coming through the walls just FUCK that noise.
>>315575493
But apartments suck, bro.
>>315575493
Nope.Nope.Nope.Nope.Nope.Nope.Nope.Nope.
>>315575797I actually kind of liked the movie, I was just madthat he had to die.
I wish we got Cold Heart instead of Shattered Memories.
>>315575897
Y'know, I like the movies. If you take them for stand alone pieces of extended universe content, they can be pretty fun.
1st movie was legit
>>315557558
Rest in fucking peace Silent Hill. 1-3 were some of the best games I've played and SH4 wasn't nearly as bad as everyone pretended it was.

That industrial music in SH3 when you encounter enemies.
>>315576036
The actress who played Heather was spot on from what I remember. Vincent being a young guy and a confusing love interest (yet still being related to her) was... weird. I don't know how that decision made it through.I guess I also didn't like that Harry was actually alive after all because it feels like it takes away from the storybut like you said, if you just take them for what they are, they actually did a somewhat decent job of nailing the atmosphere of the games overall.
>>315575897Claudia is Vincent's mother.Harry and James being interchangeable from the movie character who is an entirely different person.Travis showing up in the present timeline.
I liked the Downpour Easter Egg at the end though.
>>315576093
But Downpour was good. Unlike most of the western Silent Hill's, it was the best one made.
>>315576036
>>315576332
Yeah. No. Nope. Pretty low fucking standards. Be ashamed.
>>315576359
>We'll never get that Silent Hill 2 movie now
I'm honestly disappointed.
>>315576515
Polished turd etc.
Silent Hill after SH4 is non-canon
>>315576587
I would like it if the next movie(which there will never be) starred "Harry", James, and Murphy going through Silent Hill. They really, REALLY don't have to make Christopher as James.
>We will never get another Silent Hill
>>315576332
>The actress who played Heather was spot on from what I remember
AhahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhaha
>>315576676
But 4 is a shit. I don't know how anyone could consider that game anything but trash. It's right up there with Homecoming in my opinion. Except the plot isn't complete Horseshit.
>>315576036
even when not comparing the movies with the games (not like they had anything to do with one another anyway), the story didn't make sense at all and the movies contradict eachother constantly
>>315560290
i want this in my house
I want the next protagonist for Silent Hill to be modeled after Rami Malek or Sean Bean.
>>315577086
>Except the plot isn't complete Horseshit.thats why it's canon
>>315557824
>trying to pirate SH3
>missing files every fucking time
Guess I'll never play SH3 ever again. Should never have sold my PS2.I miss Heather.
>>315577249
Twin Peaks said it was not canon.
>>315577086
Has the best soundtrack, manages to be one of the few games to have a villain you grow to pity, is arguably the scariest game in the series.
The game knows how to get under your skin on a personal level. The Room was a great mechanic.
>>315577364
The only good thing that came out of The Room was P.T.(don't act like the teaser wasn't based on it).
>>315577353
>Twin Peaks
they did actually
>>315577484
And then P.T. was shot down.
Thanks, SH4.I actually like SH4, 2bh fahm.
>>315577684
pham?
>>315577364
SH2 ost is better and even Downpour was more scary than 4imo
And I found Downpour scary when there weren't monsters around, crazy isn't it?
>>315578025
The basement section in Downpour was terrifying.
>>315557558
someone post the links for the game isos
Forgotten Memories and Lone Survivor is good Not!Silent Hill's, right?
>>315578119
You mean that part with the first doll? I didn't found it in my first play.
The only moment that made me truly frightened was when I encountered a doll in the subway.
Man, I can't find a DL link for SH4 on PC. It's probably the only one I haven't played. Anybody knows where I can get it?
>>315578664
Holy hell, what's that? I haven't played SH3
>>315579583
You go into a haunted house attraction. At one point you enter a maze and have to run away from this red light
>>315579583
Weird orange fog that appears out of nowhere and follows you when you are exploring a haunted house in the amusement park. If you get caught by it it will rapidly drain your HP
>>315557558
>>315558456
Do you think the ps2 siren games are more scary than Silent Hill?
They look like they belong to a junji ito story
>>315558704
>>315558585
>that awful western art
I hope 9/11 was a punishment for that
There's a prop store website selling Heather's costume from Silent Hill Revelations for the low low price of $6,000
I wonder how much it would cost if anyone actually liked that piece of shit film.
