I actually am quite happy about that, the last time Bethesda did a game with a small map, they did Dragonborn DLC, which is really fucking good compared to the shitfest Skyrim was
Then there was Shivering Isles, which is considered one of the best Expansion Packs ever released.
I genuinely believe Bethesda overextend themselves with how much shit they have to put in a huge map, and dilute the content to spread it out

People seem to miss the fact that he ran to the corner of the map that was covered in water, shouldve went from bottom left to top right for a more accurate scale because it was mostly land, what he showed didnt show him technically getting to the edge of the map, just the edge of land where the most water was. Dont get me wrong, its still pretty bad that a quarter of the map is water but if youre going to show how big the play area is you should show the area that youre going to be actually playing in.

I don't know about you, but when I think post-nuclear war, I don't see bright, perfect 4k textures with 100000000000000 polygons and smooth edges. I see broken, rough and dark environments and models. Game relies on art style and this game nails it but you see it more as "graphical fidelity".
And the animations look fine. It's not like they affect the game itself anyway.

We have an infinite number of reasons to be unhappy about anything if we look for something that displeases us. And this isn't even about videogames or Fallout 4 or disappointment in general. It's about our perception. As I get older, I find it harder and harder to get excited about almost anything. I am married and have a pretty happy life, sure, but there is not much that is exactly new in my day-to-day life. I wake up, go to work, take a lunch break, work some more, commute an hour home, cook dinner, talk with my significant other, maybe read or watch TV or game, go to sleep, wake up and repeat. Of course there is variation, but the point is, the older I get, the more jaded I become because less and less of my days feel new. So when I travel to a foreign country, taste something exciting and different, share an honest moment with someone, or make a difference in some way, I cherish these little, happy moments and hold them close to my heart because they are gradually becoming less and less and less frequent. And this is how I feel about Fallout 4. In light of the complaints I've read, the dissection of removed or added features, and fine-tooth analyses of bark texture details on a tree, I see something else. I see a game that my favorite developer spent the last 7 years creating. I see a world of wonder stretched before me just waiting to show me its secrets. I see a game just 6 days away from entering my life, affording me the opportunity to pry into its world and create stories of my own to share with my fellow players. I see an opportunity to abandon any day-to-day gripes or personal dissatisfactions. I am excited. Not angry. I feel priveleged that this game has even been made and that I am alive and able to even play it.

Institute a QA and certification process, get some other developers to create some content for it like they did with the space core, brand it as 'third party DLC' that modders can opt into if their work is up to snuff, and put protections in place so no one has to worry about their work getting stolen. It could have been worthwhile even, but they did it in the laziest, greediest possible way, and now the earth is salted and bridges burned.
