When it explodes when your walking towards it, it only blows out the windows, the ending shows the dinner intact, but the windows are missing. Your never there to stop the explosion, and like everything else in the game, it will happen no matter what unless your their to directly intervene. I guess I could be wrong, this game isn't exactly bursting with info about how the time travel actually works.
