This game appeals to no one. The gameplay targets an audience that doesnt exist, the art style/characters are dull and arent appealing, and to top is all off, they dont even have a hint of fan service to try to add pull. This was the "success" of Skullgirls, as most of its fan base doesnt play fighting games and just like the cool designs and waifus. They are trying to go for SE Asian mythology, but the incarnations are from all over the fucking place and there isnt even a semblance of unity in the overall character designs.
They hardly had a fanbase to begin with. Skullgirls couldnt even get 8 people to enter into their tournament at EVO this year. They couldnt find 8 fucking people at the worlds largest fighting game tournament and are expecting a real game budget after they couldnt deliver to the peoples hopes that Skullgirls would one day become a good game. They complain all the time about Konami fucking them all the time but its their fucking responsibility to actually read the fine print of their contract. Its their own fault for not realizing they were signing themselves into a shitty situation.

Honestly, after reading the comments about this project is do or die for Lab Zero, they deserve to fucking go out of business.
They had years to work with other publishers to try and fix the money problem for getting in bed with Konami for skullgirls and getting fucked.

I didn't read up on the game but I've seen pictures of some of the characters that looks like the setting could be in some fantasy tribe world but the whole cast so far looks like a cluster fuck.

Right now, they have nearly 600k which is NOT a bad amount at all. Most games would've already been funded and maybe even hit a stretch goal or two by then. The issue with the game is that it's not entertaining nor does it have depth or anything interesting about it.
The designs aren't bad because they're diverse, they're just bad designs for the most part either being over designed or looking stupid or gimmicky. Skullgirls felt like some heart went into it, this feels like it's a cash grab for a second game. The game is just working off the Skullgirls engine too, it's why we have a side-scroller rather than a proper overworld, it's why the lighting engine is the same and combat uses the same sound effects.

I'd be pretty happy if it got funded. So far all my favorite games lately have been a product of crowdfunding (Divinity: Original Sin, Shadowrun, Undertale) and I want more of that.
I also like Skullgirls. That's not going anywhere anytime soon so I guess I can still enjoy the animation style.
