Normal/Fairy is decent typing, fantastic movepool, its got a huge HP stat, and has Competitive. I think it was super popular on Korean teams during the VGC Nationals seasons? Sure, didn't cut it in Worlds, but neither did Togekiss or Clefairy.
Jigglypuff is doing fine. A gen 1 mascot that still has enough popularity to see occasional merch.
She is a fucking fairy that can counter dragons and fighting pokemon now. That is a freaken upgrade.
Melee is the only smash that matters though.

Meowth doesn't have the chemistry with the other characters and is just "generic anime bipedal lucky-cat with a coin" whereas Jiggles is "girly pink balloon who sings, sleeps, floats around, brings salt and wears cool hats while looking stoned." Jiggly's got more going on and they can reuse/alter Kirby's animations to get Jigglypuff. Many characters like Luigi, Sonic and Wolf are mainly made up of other character's animations so why not have Jiggly using another pink blob's?
Dark Pit is literally a recolor, he probably took 3 days tops to implement into the game as his own character.
