If someone hasn't played any of the arcade games, they include an arcade mode simulator, for example if you play super hang-on you can put a screen mode where you look at lthe screen like if you were riding the bike of the arcade machine and games include some kind of extra mode which can go from an easy mode (in ecco de dolphin you won't need oxygen) to change the control scheme ( in shinobi 3 you can separate melee attack from projectiles) or even changin the rules of the game ( in altered beast you can make the transformation be random instead of a fixed one for each stage)

Unfortuantely as good as these may be, their heart is in the wrong place. What they should be focused on is making the definitive Arcade/Genesis Virtual Console ports of these games. 3DS games look like crap, and they'll look even worse on the next handheld, which may not even have 3D! So the selling point of these are gonna be quickly rendedered obsolete. Forcefully (remember with Nintendos shitass account system they won't let you pick and choose what you transfer to the next handheld, so you'll no long be able to play these on your 3DS once done).
I wouldn't pay for any ROM except that Phantasy Zone 2 remake which emulates Genesis hardware.

That's kinda what the recent ports of both are. First one was Sonic CD which got released on console, I think the recent CD ports and the Sonic 1 and 2 ports are called the taxman ports usually. They run in his engine which allowed for Sonic 2 spin dashes in Sonic CD, games played and felt exactly, if not better than they did on the genesis and included extra bonuses.

Thats it its his own engine. While this is pretty impressive the M2 ports use Sega resources and built the game as exact as possible. they add stuff like spin-dash options too. The games are perfect. The amount of research and digging they did for original code is astonishing. They even added stuff like parallax scrolling to the backgrounds.
