As a narrative, Re:c rivals CoM in terms of pacing, dialogue and characterization. They're easily top two for storyalthough they have the requirement of sequel baggage contextualizing the narratives.
But I do agree that KH games aren't necessarily the most well-written games (though I think it's more a problem with loading all the plot to the end of the game than anything)

Yeah, the combat was better and a lot more fluid in the others, but the worlds past 1 have always felt so damn shallow. In 1 it felt like there were little touches everywhere that made exploring around feel worth it. Like the tea party area in wonderland and the clocktower in neverland. Then in 2 each world lasts like 45 minutes and then you have to come back to it later. I felt like Birth By Sleep had potential with its worlds, but making you replay practically the same thing 3 separate times made each world feel shallow too.
Kingdom hearts and Naruto have basically the same plot. Prove me wrong

Well I'm not saying it was good, but the cutscenes after each world had a nice build up. In general KH games just rush everything at the end. What little they do show makes no goddamn sense.
The scene with Riku in Destiny Islands is one I really liked, especially when it was voiced in Days.
I know Kingdom Hearts games have balls out insane and not in a good way plots. I know that they are simple even by action RPG standards. But somehow after a decade and a half, I still love them. Maybe they remind me of better times in my life.

I played Re:coded fairly recently, and actually CR'd every Command, so I've been through literally all of them and can confirm that most of them adapt to an airgame.
There's a set of Commands that perform a downward strike that are a little awkward in the air, but other than that most of them work well.

I think it's debatable, but secondary canon materials like the novel confirmed Riku liked Kairi romantically. In the COM novel, he says he liked her but he knew she liked Sora, and in his conversation with Ansem, he claims that he wanted to 'make her his own'. He also caressed her cheek when she's sleeping in their bedroom in Maleficent's hideout.

So I was finally playing 2.5 these days and thought I would not beat even one data org fight on my critical playthrough in KHFM+ since they were so hard when I was younger but managed to beat all of them and even the lingering will which I thought it was easier than xemmnas andfucking luxord O/X minigame.
Just got the platinum on KH II and started BBS, maybe I can do all the optional content this time now since I suddenly seen to have become good, isn't it weird how I got better reactions now at 22 than when I was 16? maybe its the thought process that got better I dunno.

I mean everything else sans Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and live-action is either a mediocre "classic" and would make shitastic worlds (Jungle Book and Pocahontas), would be too much furry fanservice (Robin Hood), would involve paying Lloyd Alexander or Eve Titus royalties (Black Cauldron and Great Mouse Detective), are too obscure and would be shot down by Disney (Atlantis, Treasure Planet), and mediocre non-Pixar CGI (Though Wreck-It Ralph would be a fun world despite the movie being nothing special)
