You feel like it is, but I can tell you first hand that I absolutely needed it.
See, you've got a normal, reasonable perspective on drawing. But lots of people don't. For me drawing wasn't just something I could practice at and get better with, it was my entire reason to exist. The only good thing about me.
So when my drawings looked like shit, and people told me that, I felt like I was worthless as a human being. I couldn't draw and it felt miserable.
That twisted, stupid way of thinking was solved by having someone 'hug' me. I was practicing, showing them my efforts, and they validated my work. That made me feel good enough to try again and again and again.
Now I know what I'm doing, I feel much more confident about my art, and I don't attach this world of emotions behind each piece.

I guess if you're looking for some structure to your practice, you could start by trying to draw individual objects while they're under a definitive light source that casts noticeable shadows on the objects. Play around with different ways to render what you see, different tools, different ways of using those tools, etc...

3 is just as good as 2 in my opinion. I beat it without knowing what the hell the script was about, I rarely had to use a guide.
Being able to summon the beast in an actual fight and take over from there was just so fun, and having 4 of them to choose from.
