The game features green aliens fighting grey aliens in a binary planet system civil war. The aliens do not speak english, but communicate in a new language formed from digitized radio sfx and trumpets. The aliens pilot a variety of machines, including jets, saucers, and the mentioned mechs.

Pretty much the only guy nowadays being given boatloads of money to make weird, idiosyncratic games is Hideo Kojima. All the rest get focus tested and homogenized into mediocre vanilla gruel.
To me, the real issue is the idea that titillation is wrong, and that creating a sexually desirous character or any gender automatically equates to objectification. If the character is just a silent titbag, then by all means, critique away, but it's insane that a character like Bayonetta gets written off as harmful to women. Did you read the response of the dev of Dying Light after Anita called out their female character for being a damsel?
He made a blog post where he described the process in creating that character. They explicitely made her a strong female that fits the setting, a martial artist that can actually survive a zombie apocalypse. I've been doing that from the beginning... what does this look like? EA?
If I'd to make ends meet by working for a big publisher I'd just suck it up and do whatever the 'core' audience demands, or at least what the higher-ups think the core audience is.
If I started an independent project on my free time though, I'd be very vocal on the way I tell them to fuck off and proceed to make the game as offensive as possible. I mean, not the offense as the main focus, but pissing retards off is always fun.
All the while keeping my dox private. You really don't know how far these people are willing to go, they're mentally unstable after all. SJWs manage to be worse than the opposition.

Before I'd give my answer, I'd question their logic.
Why should I follow your rules if they inhibit my creativity? Why do these rules matter? Are people getting "oppressed" by things found in luxury products? Could you not argue that if someone has the means to reasonably buy and consume my wares, that they aren't being oppressed compared to around a billion citizens of the world?
Why is it that you get to decide what's "oppressive" and what's not? Why is it that you'll accuse me of oppression if I don't follow your rules?
Then, I would critique his rules:
1. Why does it matter if only one of my principal cast members is female? What if it makes sense in the storyline context, like in Saving Private Ryan?
2. Again, what does it matter what a female character willingly chooses to wear? What if it makes sense to wear this? Not all skimpily dressed characters are sex objects. Princess Sally from the Sonic games wears no clothes, and she wasn't designed to be a sex object.
3. What if it doesn't make sense? Why should I include a grotesquely overweight woman in, say, an elite force of marines, if such a physique would not make sense in context?
4. I can put fan service wherever I want. If it really matters, I'd just agree to a compromise wherein all characters of all genders are equally sexually objectified.
5. Why does this matter? How can you call yourself a crusader for equality if you can't look past a character's skin color?
6. What if this woman is not a normal woman? Chun-Li, for instance, is unusually physically fit for her age and demographic. Why would I animate her like a "normal" woman?
7. I would make the point that sex is painful for women, as well as pleasurable. In addition, I would raise the argument that the screams of orgiastic joy are often indistinguishable from the screams of agony in both genders.
8. Does it matter if I sexualize enemies? Is a sexualized enemy inherently worse than a non-sexualized one?

Anita has every right to do her criticism, and she deserves the right to do it without harassment. Calling her a cunt or making rape threats actually strengthens her arguments and makes her voice seem more vital.
That being said, people also have the right to critique the content of her arguments, and do so without being slandered themselves. I think there a lot of people who, even if they don't agree are generally sympathetic to Anita's positions who are very much turned off by the shrill, absolutist nature of her and her fanbase. Adopting the same paranoiac sensibilities of MRAs isn't automatically validated because you're "on the right side".
